DissapointingStayed for one night but sadly the condition of the room is so dissapointing eventhough it is quite spacious but it was too old the carpet is so dirty and smelly plus the bathtub was clogged and the sink was terribly leaking you even have to request for bath towel and bath mat because it was not provided. This hotel totally need to be upgraded.

Good location, great people but poor infrastructure...Location is reachable by 10 minutes walk from the checkpoint via pedestrian bridges connecting checkpoint exit above city bus terminal to another mall in front of the hotel (R&F Mall). The building looks great, bright, clean with huge reception area, hall, lounge etc. The room is spacious especially for studio-type of room. At 16 floor you can view Malaysian checkpoint, City Square mall & sometimes chocked highway. The staff are helpful, friendly and that's really great if you need help. There are shuttle buses every 2 hours from/to City Square but need the guest booking 1 hour before departure. But practically you can just walk for 10 minutes to reach City Square. The furniture looks "old" which is really old or simply because it is of lower quality & wears down quickly. The most annoying is toilet flushing takes almost 1-2 minutes to clean up everything (they should fix it or buy new one). You need to hold down the handle firmly & continuously before it successfully flushes. Hot water takes a few minutes to be warm. Once it warms, the water can be too hot for a shower. Cleanliness may not be that great when we found out the cups are simply not washed/replaced during room make-up. They just simply put the cups back into the cupboard. The carpet are dusty not only in our room but also in the hall. However we fortunately did not spot any cockroach or other funny creatures. For a reason, we only use their WiFi for 24 hours which is very odd when even no star/1-star hotel anywhere in the world provide free WiFi in this digital-age 21st century. After 24 hours usage of "complimentary" WiFi, they would charge RM 10,- for an extension. For tourists not familiar with Johor Bahru, this is very annoying. The air conditioner is very cold and the thermostat may not be working properly. But this not a big concern when Johor Bahru is typically a humid, hot tropical city. For those with children, TV channels are limited & mostly are Singapore channels and some local channels. So forget about cable TV like HBO, ESPN, CNN etc. We also notice the staff unable to converse in Chinese when mainland China tourists simply asked for glass of tea. They should hire staff able to converse in Chinese when more mainland tourists visit Singapore & SE Asia.

Quite worth the priceHad a 4D3N stay at this hotel with my partner & it wasnt too bad. Downsides are that the furniture in the room were all pretty old, carpet had a very big stain, had to request for towels, we have to request for a new Wi-Fi password because it renews everyday & TV channels are very limited. On the other hand, the staff are helpful & shuttle bus service is very convenient for guests going to jb city square & mid valley. The hotel staff couldve been quicker when guests request for items in their hotel rooms. Also, there was once that the water in the sink, toilet bowl & showering area turned brown for awhile & it was really disturbing.. Luckily it was our last morning at the hotel.

Convenient stayWe were on a cricket tour with our under 15 team from December 2019 to January 2020 in Malaysia and Singapore. We stayed at the GBW Hotel for 8 days. The hotel is reasonably priced at RM160 per night for a double room with breakfast. They disclose on their website that children under 12 stay free, with two adults, but the child does not get free breakfast. What they don't tell you is that they do not provide a bed for the child and the child has to share with their parents. If you do want a single bed included you need to pay extra RM80 per night. This placed us in a real predicent because two of the tour party was kids under 12 and had to share the bed with their parents. The hotel staff was warm and friendly, and were kind enough to allow our boys use of the pool till 20:30 after games and practices even though the pool closed at 19:00 in the evenings. The rooms were clean and had a flat screen TV, kettle and fridge. But the furniture was a bit dated and floors were carpeted and stained in places. Breakfast is really good and large variety, continental and had local foods as well. Also had a restaurant, coffee shop and shop on the ground floor. Also had a small gym. The location was great as there is a Mall opposite with a large number of food places as well as a supermarket. The large JB Central Mall and transport hub is less than a 1 km away and is about a 12 min walk. Also very close to the border in order for you to go over to Singapore. Overall it is was a good hotel and nice staff for the rate that we paid. The only issue for us was the misleading information about the children under 12 staying free.

Utterly DisappointingI've stay at this hotel about 6-7 times in the past year and have never been so sorely disappointed. Checked in at about 3pm smoothly by an Indian Lady Receptionist and checked into room #1317. Upon entering the room, entire bathroom is soaked through and the AC is incredibly loud. The AC vents were loose and when wind passes through it, the vents would be vibrating. Also I was roomed against 2 connecting rooms and I definitely would prefer not to as a personal preference. I went back down to speak to the lady who checked it in as well as a slightly older Malay lady about the situation. I was informed there they do not have any other rooms without connecting doors. Best part of that, they don't even bother checking. It's not that difficult to press Ctrl F3 on opera the look at your room plan before opening your mouth. I guess they just cannot be bothered. Wow. I choose not to quarrel with them then because it's just 1 night. Upon returning, The AC is still having the same issues so i guess they totally didn't do anything. FYI Its not that difficult. Hang me a screw and a screwdriver and i can fix that for you. Dear Hotel Management team, I have stay with you multiple times and I know for a fact you have a high geosource from SG and CN. How dare you try to tell me there's no availability without even checking in the current viral outbreak and with your ADR ranging $20-30usd. I'm willing to bet your occupancy is below 60% that day. I'm extremely disappointed and this will likely be why I'm not returning unless action is taken by the management team. It's nonchalant attitude of employees like this who is ruining your once good name. I hope something will be done.
