  Un lodge en medio de la naturaleza

  Este coqueto lodge está en medio de una zona privada con animales salvajes en libertad y con unas pasarelas de madera y una zona de observación. Las habitaciones son correctas sin lujos y el personal bastante atento

  Entorno maravilloso, cabañas decepcionantes

  La ubicación es perfecta, con las pasarelas de madera y la terraza de avistamiento y las cabañas dispersas, con su porche cubierto y las sillas para sentarte al fresco oyendo los animales, pero el interior es muy mejorable. Las cabañas son viejas, feas y con aspecto sucio. El baño era espacioso pero con moho entre las baldosas y el aspecto en general era desagradable. Lástima

  Bushbabies, Butterflies & Birds

  I have visited Bushlands on several occasions in the past and it never fails to disappoint. Whilst I did read a handful of negative reviews preceding this, the rationale behind my five star rating is the the value proposition; Bushlands is a three star establishment that doesn't try and masquerade as anything other than a three star resort whilst at the same time offering value for money that is nigh impossible to trump. The resort, a game reserve in its own right, is a mere 25 minutes drive from Hluhluwe's Memorial Gate and minutes away from several other local attractions. The sheer volume of butterflies, variety of bird life and bushbabies dining alongside us at dinnertime adds to the charm of the place. The buffet style meals were both tasty and plentiful and the staff were generally polite and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit.

  We stayed in the self catering units which are seperate from the actual lodge (youd have to drive to get to the lodge / reception / restaurant area). These self catering units whilst old are still well maintained. Theres a seperate pool for these units. Make sure to request a unit with a pool view. The unit had aircons in the two bedrooms but not in the lounge area which gets really hot if you dont leave both aircons on to cool the entire unit. Make sure you bring enough drinking water because the tap water isnt drinkable. There is a bit of a gravel road to get to the lodge. It seems okay for a sedan but will be very bumpy. The staff at the reception were extremely helpful and provided insightful advice. Whilst they do organize drives into the Hluhluwe Game Reserve we did our own. The closest entrance is the Memorial Gate and whilst its about 25 minutes away there are other sights to see near the Lodge such as the Cheetah centre and reptile park. Overall this was a quick getaway and was excellent value for money.

  Just adequate but rundown

  We stayed in a self catering unit which is separate from the actual lodge. With the name Gooderson so well-known in hospitality we expected better. Our unit (U6) was quite run down and not quite as clean as we hoped for. The microwave was all rusty inside, the fridge's seals are on way out (no ice trays) and the oven was quite filthy, some insects flew out when we opened it (so much so we decided not to use the oven). Some dead insects lying around etc. Overall, one had the feeling the place needs a proper clean-up. Also, not enough bedding was supplied for the two that need to sleep on the sleeper-couch in living room (and almost all pillows need replacement). On the plus side, a nice bush setting, the swimming pool was a plus, so was the visiting Nyalas and duiker. However, a renovation is definitely due!
