  Gordon Lodge Has The Formula Right

  The information about Gordon Lodge on-line had our expectations set fairly high and the folks at G.L. did not disappoint. The location is beautifully scenic and grounds are impeccably manicured. The "retro" period feel of the place is immediately apparent and well-conceived. The staff was helpful and pleasant throughout, especially the food staff who did double-duty at the breakfast buffet and Top Deck restaurant. They were always there when you needed them and left you alone when you didn't. I wanted to leave a generous tip for the staff, but the lodge does not provide a means to do so (my only real complaint). Our bayview cabin was cleaned thoroughly and the view out the bayfront window is spectacular. We had a roaring fire in the fireplace each night of our stay and there was plenty of wood provided (and restocked at least once without a request). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom spacious and functional. Our cabin was the last one on the bay side, but the walk to the main lodge was still short and quick. There was no distracting noise during our entire stay, even though the lodge was full. We were very pleased with the protocols that were put in place due to Covid-19. The staff was attentive and helpful and we did not observe any guests that were not in compliance with the rules. Cleaning was thorough and consistent across the grounds. G.L. had the best implementation of safety protocols we've observed in our travels this year, bar none. I normally like to include at least one helpful critique or suggestion in my reviews but, frankly, I can't think of one this time. Gordon Lodge is NOT cheap, by any means, but we felt that we received very good value for the price we were charged and we will definitely be back again in the future.   Absolutely Fantastic and Safe!

  What a great stay at a great place! My family and I just visited last week and it was the first time we had gone anywhere since the pandmeic started. My parents had come up earlier in the Summer and gave the two thumbs up on their Covid-19 policy. So this was the only place we would really even consider. We were able to stay in our own cottage right on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. Everyone wore masks and the staffs attention to detail and cleaning were inpeccable. This place was already our number one place to stay when visiting Door County already. They really raised the bar to help people like us, who were on the fence, feel safe and able to go on vacation again. And for that, we can't thank you enough!

  Beautiful Place

  We stayed for three nights at Gordon Lodge in mid-September. The rooms at the Lodge are quite comfortable and were very clean. The Lodge appears to be following the CDC guidelines to the letter. There was not daily room service, but you could put out any trash or linens/towels that needed to be replaced and they were taken care of. The small patio that overlooks the lake was a treat. The breakfast service was modified, but there were various types of meats, potatoes, eggs, fruits, etc. No complaints!

  Amazing resort from a bygone era

  We stumbled across this lodge by accident as we were looking for a place to stay for the last two nights of our trip, and this will be our new go-to for Door County. This place has the feel of what a resort must have been like in the 50's, which makes sense since it was open at that time! Everything is well cared for and updated, from the grounds to the lodgings. A true gem!! Appropriate masking and distancing was followed by staff and guests- felt very safe. Room- We stayed for 2 nights in Cabin 9- Poplar. It's a small cabin with a screened in porch, but perfect for a couple. It was beautifully decorated and clean. Heated floor in bathroom and great shower nozzles. Fridge, coffee maker and microwave in separate little room with a door. You never know what you will get with a "cabin in the woods" but it felt luxurious. These cabins are very close to each other so it felt safe and communal yet private. Food- Breakfasts were included and great- buffet style (served to you in COVID times) and also available to go. Ham frittata, potato pancakes with dill ricotta, and great bakery items to name a few highlights. We also enjoyed the 3-5pm happy hour at Top Deck restaurant/bar. Drinks were very good (old fashioneds, tom collins, mojitos, and more!) and views incredible. We also ate dinner there and it was delicious (get the chicken dumplings!). My only complaint would be the chairs and tables could be updated in the Top Deck to make it feel a little more upscale, but what counted (food and drink) was excellent. Grounds/Location- This spot feels isolated but is only a 10 min drive from the heart of Sister Bay. The drive in is beautiful and there are well cared for plants and flowers everywhere. There are also several miles of trails through the grounds which we enjoyed. Also plenty of benches and spots to sit to watch the sunset and beautiful lake views. There were a couple outdoor bars that we would have loved to see open, but it was a chilly few days in Oct when we stayed so some amenities were closed up. Due to high water the pier is closed and beach is minimal, which didn't bother us in our Oct visit.

  Safe private secluded excellent

  Gordon Lodge is tucked back on the more secluded East side of Door County making it a drive from the busy west side. This is why I prefer it it! The grounds and cabins are impeccable with miles of trails that are empty of crowds great for social distancing. Enjoyed the free breakfast and the servers were so friendly and helpful. Walking the grounds and sitting on the benches overlooking the water was spectacular. Have Been going here for 40 years and it as better kept now that ever. Pool, private beach and free bikes makes it very kid friendly.
