    Ski Hochsölden

Last week we planned a ski holiday to Hochsölden. We had booked a large new room. On arrival we noticed that the large new room had totally no view as all windows were blocked with snow to the top top of the window. Not a good start. Moreover the room has a bed which was hard as concrete. My wife and I did not had one hour sleep that night. In the morning we asked for change of room which was impossible due to fully booked. We could however not agree to stay in a 400 euro/day room without any view and with a bed which for us was not possible to sleep on. Luckily after some discussion we could change hotel by paying only one night. This was a kind gesture but it was a pitty that the lady owner did totally not understand our problem and even said we were not welcome anymore in her hotel. This is not a 4 star hotel anymore. Luckily we found a very beautiful room with incredible mountain view in the close by Enzian Hotel. For less price we got much more service and comfort. The rest of the week in Hochsölden and hotel Enzian were incredible.

    unpleasant stay

My daughter and I looked forward to this hotel, we were greated by the owner nicely, good start we thought. Our intitial look around, found the pool cold 24c, the pool area stank of and still smells of sweaty feet when you walk around. The owner of the place changes the atmosphere every time she arrived, she is rude and complacent to her staff in front of all residentts. The staff are terrified of her presence. what a way to run a hotel. Our room was never cleaned properly. Food except the last Friday evening was poor. The hotel was 0 humidity, hot.? And a steady but constant smell of smokers used smoke leaking through the floors below into your room, especially at night with the dry heat. Sickly, unpleasant and bloody horrible. How the hell the smoke alarm didnt sound, dont know. Probably turned off. Not exceptable. Hotel could be great if they just left it to the staff to run. I could say loads more but I respect the hard working, unloved and supported staff. For you Crystal customers dont bother, Crystal reps not present only via email out of resort.

Perfect location, excellent service and food

Two families travelling together, having a very good time! Perfect location - ski in/ski out - and shuttlebus if you want a trip to the village. Clean rooms (pretty hard matresses). Food and service was excellent. Spa area is clean and offers a wide range of relaxation, both youngsters and parents enjoyed this every afternoon. An advice for an even better experience: Less smoking in public areas

    Niza stay, room for improvement

We love going to Austria for our skiing holidays. This was a new location for us and we were a bit worried. On the arrival we were greeted by Christine, the hotel owner/manager. The check in was very quick. She helped us with the luggage. We were given rooms on the 1st floor. We could not see much, as there was so much snow just outside our balcony, that it was destructing our view. Children's room was even worse. Luckily for the hotel it was so late, that we did not bother complaining. But I can imagine it is much better to stay in the upper floors. The room itself was modern and lacked a special touch. Curtains would have been nice. Also, an electric kettle to allow us to make tea and coffee, even for a small fee, would be a great addition. The hotel had been recently renovated and looks very modern. Our room was adjusted for disabled access Food was okish and impressed us only on one night, when there was a seafood buffet. Deserts could be more impressive - there was only choice of 2 every night (one would always be a sorbet) The spa area definitely needs some air fresheners, as it a bit smelly and not pleasant to stay there. The playroom - apart from ping pong table, everything else is payable. I would not say that the hotel is very child friendly because of the following reasons: 1. smoking area in the bar - once I even seen a bar tender was smoking. Overall, you could smell the cigarette smoke in many communal areas. 2. not much to do for kids after skiing or after dinner - equipment in play room is more for teenangers. would have been nice to have a kids club or some sort of entertainment- maybe a movie night. 3. if your children are complete beginners- forget this place, as the hotel is on the slope and to get to the ski school's meeting point they would have to negotiate a red slope. (didn't cause much trouble for our children, but they have been skiing for over 3 winters now) Also, would like to point out that there is no entertainment in the hotel. We stayed in the peak of the season and there wasn't even one night with live music or something similar and because you are up on the mountain, there is nowhere else you could walk to- there is only few more hotels. But you can't really call it a village. Shops are around 15 min away by car. Wine in the restaurant was expensive - cheapest was around 35 euro per bottle. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. I would like to thank hotel manager - Christine and waiters - Lenka, Alex and Vladimir- they were never short of a smile, were very helpful and welcoming. I admire all staff for their hard work. We seen Christine still at work when we went to bed and she would be up and around when we came down for breakfast. Skiing in Solden is great. Because its so high up, the snow is almost never too soft.

Nice location, not a 4 stars

This is a very well located hotel on the slopes. Standard mountain Rooms are very simple decor and very small. ( triple room is too small) and the bathroom tiny. Restaurant serves good food, nice buffet and a la carte menu. Breakfast is very nice and lot of choice. unfortunately the staff is not friendly and not welcoming. The owner a old lady that is not very nice and not welcoming . ( at least with us) Nobody speaks French or English.. This is not a 4 stars hotel. I would say a good 3 stars. Very convenient if you dont care about service and details. Spa nice and pool nice. Nice ski room. We wont return to this hotel. Be careful there is not free shuttle from hotel Hochsölden to Sölden . single trip is 30 euros for 4 people and 50 for over 6 people. Pictures in internet site do not reflect the reality.
