    Inpressive Kids Room

Our family (2adults, 3 children-12, 10 and 1.5 yrs old) stayed here for two nights. My older son enjoyed the SB here. Although ppl say the snow field here is small, I think its quite sufficient to kids who started to learn snow class. Kids room are spacious and well designed, boys love the bunk bed. When you checked in, counter staff will ask you the diaper size of your baby, the diaper for visitors stay in kids room are free. Breakfast and dinner are good but they wont change the menu day by day. Beef are very good. I especially love the big window which we can see almost everything in the snow field, nice view and good to have a cup of coffee by the window. Hot spring is good. You can do daily laundry at 2F. Indoor swimming pool is also good.

    quite ok.

Stayed here for 2 nights after transferring from another ski resort. This is a very local resort. Not that new. Lots of Japanese. It was not cheap as we went on 23rd December. This is a national holiday weekend and we paid a premium for it. Free shuttle from a location near Yuzawaechigo station. Took about 15 minutes to get there. Although it was really crowded, check in was systematic and efficient. However, as we arrived in the morning, we only managed to check in at 3pm. So we left our luggages with the front office and went skiing. Skis rental were cheap but the equipment were very old and worn... Ski lifts were cheap but it was a bad season and actually the slopes had not much snow. This of course is no fault of the resort. Still the slopes were packed with holiday makers. Room was small but functional. We sleep on floor with the japanese comforters. Toilet and bathroom were very small. Buffet breakfast and dinner were ok. However, the public onsen was good but the outdoor onsen was rather small. There was an indoor swimming pool and was free for guest but we didn't used as we didn't bring our swimsuits although you could rent or buy it from the hotel if you wanted it. There was a very large coin laundry facility and prices were ok. At least the kids had a good time at the arcade play games and had fun improving their skiing skills. Overall, unless I get it at much much cheaper rates, I will not be going there again.

    Local gem

I was really worried about our stay here as there were hardly any reviews by westerners or in English even. We decided to give it a try as it was close to Tokyo, easily accessed via the bullet train, ski in and ski out and cheaper than most other hotels nearby. So glad we did. You do have to walk out of the train station and up the street 50-100m or so to get to their shuttle bus stop. But was fine even with young kids. Check in was easy enough. There were staff who spoke English. The room was large and the kids were excited to experience a Japanese style room with Futon beds. (We did need to ask for an additional futon mattress for me and my hubby as were werent accustomed to the hard bed. But it was fine after that) the room was big enough to leave the beds set up all day aswell and still have the other half of the room to use like a lounge/ dining room. You get robes and slippers to wear around the hotel and lots of the Japanese wear them to dinner even. So we joined in. Dinner and breakfast buffet was Amazing! And cheap by Japanese standards. Kids enjoyed the kids section of the buffet and ice cream and cotton candy machines. Lots of choices for adults also. The Onsen was an experience! We had never been to one and after the initial nervousness about being naked amongst strangers, everyone was very nice and we really enjoyed the experience. Especially the outside bath where you can even touch the snow while sitting in the hot bath. We stayed 3 nights so we could get a bit of skiing in with the kids and it was a perfect amount of time. If you were a very experienced skier and didnt have young kids, you may want to catch the shuttle to a nearby ski field for the day. But my kids were learners and it was perfect for them. But not too boring for my husband and I who have previous ski experience. Ski clothes and equipment hire is on site and convenient. We also forgot the kids snow boots and gloves at home were able to buy some in the lobby not too expensive. Tobogganing, tubing and snow play for the kids right outside the hotel. Ski storage lockers (free) also on ground level and convenient.

    Good family hotel. Efficient service

Stayed 4 nites in a western & japanese room. Theres a bed for two, places for sleeping mats, and two sofa beds. A small kitchen but no kitchenware. Quite a lot of guests but i was impressed with their efficient service and logistics. We rarely have to wait except for one breakfast but it was fairly quick too. Basically only one green slope with a portion of it at the top red. Very good for beginners but if you want more variety you need to go ski resorts close by. Breakfast decent. Onsen so so. Comparing to other ski resorts I have been to in the past, not much to do at nite.

Family-friendly hotel with good facilities but a little remote

The Angel Grandia is quite a large hotel and offers lots of useful facilities to guests, from onsen to laundry facilities to pool and gym(but pool and gym needs to charge extra). It is very family-friendly and even offer self-served cotton candies and fruit juices almost 7/24 and kids simply love the experience! Nice outdoor and indoor onsens. The hotel price was quite good but they only make up your room once every 2-3 days. The hotel was always packed and crowded but very organized and efficient at check-in. Buffet was so-so and most of the breakfast items were cold. The dinner buffet also wasnt that appealing so wed rather eat outside or had a-la-carte Japanese menu at other restaurants inside the hotel. Theres a ski ground just next door so ski-in-ski-our was possible but only for beginners and if your kids are very young. The hotel also offers shuttle bus to other ski resorts but the operating hours were quite late and not good for those who plan to have morning or full day classes. Ski rental was again next door and not expensive but equipment is a bit aged. Maybe because it was Chinese New Year when during the 5 days we were there, 80%+ were mainland Chinese visitors...
