    Its time for renovation

We booked the hotel because of its excellent location which right next to Hakata station and with many good restaurants nearby. Our period of stay was from 07-12Sep and we were staying in 12/FL. We checked in at the reception on the 3rd floor and while checking in for the hotel, I knew that I cant expect too much with the hotel as everything looked so outdated to me. With no surprise, the room was spacious but everything inside the room was so OLD. The furniture, the beds and the bath room all from the 80s. A heavy down quilt has been prepared for each bed even in this time of the year. We have to turn the air-con to very high at night in order to entertain the down quilt. However, the air-con stopped automatically in the middle of the night when the room temperature reached to certain level, and it started up again after a minute or two, but with a noise that waked us up. The hotel provides a dress to each room guest and placed on the bed. It looks like to me something between a pyjama and a thin bathrobe. But the problem is it looks like it has been washed for a thousand times and you may not want to wear it. On the third night and after taking a shower, I found one of the big towels got some strange smell and may be that particular one did not go through proper cleaning process. Fortunately it didnt happen in rest of the evenings. The hotel provides simple breakfast. Tastes of the food were fine but choices are very limited. A chef was there to prepare 3 styles of omelette as per requested. However, they dont provide fried egg even requested by customers. A very strange principle that they want to stick with. As a whole, its not worth for the money we paid.

    Nice amenities

Stayed 1 night before leaving Fukuoka. It is right next to Hakata station. It is just outside the Chikushi exit at Hakata station and on the right side. There is a Pachinko parlour in the entrance and it is noisy. The hotel lobby and reception is on 3/F. Staff speaks reasonable English and are helpful. The room is a reasonable size for Japan. The bath amenities are really nice. Even though it is non smoking the hallways and hotel has a slight smell. The breakfast is quite good. Would stay again.

    Great location by Hakata Station

    1. Booked two twin sharing rooms at this hotel for a family vacation. 2. Location of hotel is nearby the Hakata Station which is fantastic. Easily accessible for train and buses as well as a great place for shopping at Hakata station. 3. Rooms are reasonable size and generally clean. Wifi reception is good. 4. If you are driving, you have to park your car at the basement carpark to drop off your luggages due to road blockage at hotel entrance. 5. I'd recommend travellers this place if you want the convenience to amenities. I'd not mind staying at this hotel again due to its convenience.

    Great location

The Clio Court sets a bad first impression with its Pachinko Parlour on the ground floor entry, full of smoke and noise. However, the rooms are pleasant with more space than some. It does seem that every room is of a different shape and layout. The breakfast buffet at Cafe d' Erte is family friendly and has a good variety of Wester and Japanese food. The Hakata station complex is just 30m away.

    Wouldn't be my choice hotel

To set things straight, our stay at Hotel Clio was free of problems and convenient. So I guess these are the only two aspects I've based on to give an average review. As far as asthetics and comfort is concerned, I'll rate it below average. This hotel IS old. I believe it was built in 1976 (that makes it 42 years standing). The furniture is outdated and the toilet is distasteful what with the green spinach or yellow tamago tiles! Surely they were popular back in the 70s. It seems that the hotel went through a renovation in 2003, but it beats me as to where the uplifting went. Honestly I couldn't even set my feet on the floor in our room, instinctively I kept my bedroom slippers on on every inch of the room. I believe there are better choices around, and unless the convenience to Hakata station is of paramount importance to you, it would be nice to come back to the present and leave the old in the past.
