    Excellent Service!

Their rooms were very comfy and clean. They clean the rooms everyday. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel staff spoke English so the transaction was easy. It is within the city so everything is accessible.

    Excellent location downtown

Pleasant hotel close to the JR station and all the activities in the downtown area. For such a big hotel the main entrance was rather small, I overshot it the first time around. Also the lobby was rather small. Nevertheless all in all the hotel was fine. My room gave a great look on the garden. The neighbourhood was loaded with restaurants, bars and shops like for instance Don Quijote just around the corner.

Great place, don't miss the garden

I didn't chose the hotel but I loved it. Location was great, very convenient for the station, room was fine, front desk staff were kind and thoughtful. Enjoyed a better than average breakfast, included in the room rate. The whole experience was much more "boutique" than "chain" hotel. But the real glory of the place is the privileged access to the former daimyo's garden next door. Each morning at breakfast, the waitstaff encouraged me to step outside into the garden. On the third morning, I finally did it. What a lovely place! Japanese aesthetics at their best. And I had it all to myself. Would have been worth staying here just for the garden, but like I said, the hotel was good, too.

    Nice Hotel

This hotel had the probably biggest room we had in Japan (still small though) You get good value for the price. But the room is a bit dusty (not too bad though) As we were there during Typhoon Hagibis we had to stay a bit longer which was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful eventhough communication was a bit tricky because of the language barrier. Breakfast is nice as well and has a good selection of international and Japanese dishes. The hotel is very central and has Shops, Restaurants and Craft Beer bars nearby. You can reach Shizuoka Station within 5 Minutes by foot (most of it underground which comes in handy when it's raining). There's also a laundry which we were happy to use. Overall I can recommend this hotel and would stay again!

    Last Shogun

Hotel is located at a old villa of the last 15th shogun Yoshinobu Tokunaga. The garden is well preserved and the restaurant, Ukidono, serves high-quality traditional Japanese tea-ceremony dinner, Kaiseki. Shizuoka is only one hour from Tokyo by HIkari super express train, and this place is well worth visiting. You can drop at by Odawara castle on the way from Tokyo if you have enough time.
