  near to Basel

  They offer different rooms and studios, also for families. Free parking in front of back of the Hotel. Only one floor, the first. But no elevator. I got the "Schwarzwald-Karte KONUS" this mean free riding in the area - also to Basel with them S-Bahn (Metro).

  Recommended to Avoid Switzerland's Expensive Prices

  Stayed here for our visit to Switzerland. Only a few hundred meters from the border. The location itself might not be so welcoming but it's okay considering the price and what you get for it. You get free wifi, free parking, and free public transportation tickets that you could use to go around the city (not really sure if it applies to all public transport, since we didn't use it. But it's pretty handy if you do need it!, and I'm sure the staffs will be happy to help). The room was good. Clean, nice shower, fast internet connection. Although the blanket has a funny smell but this wasn't a big problem. Breakfast was also good and cheap, and there's quite a number of restaurants in the area if you want to eat something. One of the feedbacks that I can give is may be the receptionist. When we came, there was a sign on the door which says that the receptionist is away until one hour after the official check-in time. We decided to wait and when they came, they told us that there will only be staffs for around 2 hours that day due to sickness. They were really nice and helpful, so there is really nothing to be complain about. But I do wish maybe they could have somebody else to cover, in case if it ever happens again. But overall, it was a good stay. Will come back here if we want to avoid Switzerland's crazy prices.

  Cheap - but you get what you pay for

  Unfortunately I can not recommend this hotel. yes, it was cheap - but the room smelled so bad we had to sleep with the windows open to air it out. The entire night we heard the neighbor kids from the apt building next door partying. We also heard cars and people in the parking lot. Very noisy area. Could not wait to leave. The staff seemed nice - but if you want to actually be comfortable and sleep - find another hotel.

  Mosquito heaven!

  We noticed that there were several Mosquitoes in our room. No big deal we thought, we got rid of them. However, in the low evening light we didn't notice right away what the real problem was. As we looked up to the ceiling we discovered that there were hundreds of them. No exaggeration. There was no way we could stay in that room overnight. At this time it was 11 30 pm. We went to the reception, that was no longer occupied. There was nobody anywhere that could help us. So we went back to our room to look in the room folder for a telephone number to call after hours. A man from the Hotel staff answered and he sounded as if he cared, but after waiting 45 minutes and nobody came, we called again. No answer this time. So we were hoping that the man would show up any moment. We were tired and we were getting angry as another 30 minutes went by and nobody showed up. We felt abandoned and looked on our phone, where else we could find a room. Lets remember: in southern Germany there are very few hotels with 24 hour reception service, but we found a hotel nearby. The cost was twice as much than the Grenzblick. It was 1 a.m. when we arrived there and were so glad that they still had a room. We had a great night even though it was a short night. I felt betrayed by the Grenzblick and requested my money back. I called my credit card company and they said they would recover the money. However, a few month later I was informed, that it was not possible to refund me for whatever reason. Since I dont have the energy to pursue further action, I felt you may want to know before you book a room there.

  Staff couldn't care less

  Lavatory didn't flush. After flushing the hose leading to the cistern started dripping rapidly. Called out of hours service number - no emergency plumber available. No one was concerned that it would be dripping all night. Glad only booked for one night.
