  Nearly perfect

  The hotel is nearly perfect. Although is far away from the train station, but it has shuttle between station and the hotel, nice arrangement. Before reservation, I can send email or call them for detail discussion, they have mandarin staff, which helped me a lot. The dinner is the best that I have tried. Not matter the beef sukiyaki dinner set or the kaiseki dinner set are very very good. The staff is very polite and nice. But according to the cold weather, the spa in open area is not hot enough (Although the view is good); Besides, the public indoor spa is close temporary. So, a little bit disappointed. Btw, it is really a good choice in here!

  Nice little onsen hotel on the hill

  The private little onsen is nice but it's just hot water and not spring water. Breakfast and dinner are good with large portion and good sashimi. The location is a bit remote. I would recommend to rent a car so that you can drive around to see various attractions and the GPS would guide you to the destination. May consider to go there again.

  Amazing Seaview with in-rrom Onsen

  It took me a while to do research as we have specific requirement for the hotel in Wakayama. This hotel hits all the right spot. 1) In room onsen 2)Fantastic Seaview while inroom onsen (double points) 3) Quiet area (its up on a mountain) 4) Nearby the Shirahama beach so can play fireworks at night. 5) Lovely 10-course dinner in a private dinning room at the restaurant. 6) within budget. The profile photo of the hotel may not look very attractive but it's the details that count. Definitely recommended for tourist who are coming by car.

  Nice room & private Onsen, good quality of meals, caring staff

  The private onsen in-room is very nice! The room is very clean with full set of personal care (shampoo, body wash, facial wash, even deep clean & massage cream, etc) It's a really caring and those staff are very nice and helpful too! We stayed for 2 days and had breakfast & dinner there, all were in good quality, appropriate portion, with fresh sashimi and meats. It's located on the hill where is very silent nearby, it's not walkable but it's quite convenient for driver (they offer free & spacious parking) or they also provide shuttle bus service so we don't think the location is a problem. Also, there's a very nice spacious park () just 2 mins drive apart, really a worth to go for sakura and picnic!

  Nightmare

  We came to this ryokan with high expectation. We left with disappointment. We stayed here for 1 night in a cottage with Onsen. The room itself looks very nice and comfortable. There are even 2 private Onsens in the cottage. They also provide a Nintendo Wii for guest in the room. Everything felt good. Then, came the nightmare. The room wasn't very clean. I could pick up some dirt and dust. I also saw several spider webs. We also saw dead insects in the toilet. This was the first part of dissatisfaction. The nightmare started at night. We are afraid of insects. It was rainy that day. This kind of weather attracts moths and termites. So, our room was swarmed with 100 moths, termites, and even spiders. We had to sleep in the room with these crawling over us at night. Worst nightmare ever! The Onsen in the room did not feel very good either. We have stayed in many Onsen ryokans before. In term of water quality, this one is almost at the bottom of the list. There are 2 Onsens in the room, 1 indoor 1 outdoor. We could not try the outdoor one because there were hornets near the Onsen. Quite a misfortune. The service was average. They explained the facilities and the room very well. But it took several minutes when we asked for something, especially in the restaurant. The food was disastrous. If you read my reviews, you will notice that I have stayed in several ryokans on my trip in June 2015. This ryokan has the worst food. Even worse than all of the restaurants we had in the trip. It tasted very very bad. We will never come back here. The only good thing about this ryokan is the look of the room. Would not recommend this to anyone.
