  A great base to see the Izu Peninsula and Mt Fuji

  I picked the Winery Hills hotel because of its access both to the stunning seascapes of the Izu Peninsula and to Mt. Fuji. Mt. Fuji is a shy mountain that is hiding in the clouds more than not and this hotel had a view of Mt. Fuji. This was a photography trip and photos of Mt. Fuji was at the top of the list. The Izu's rugged coast could keep me busy until the mountain came out of its cloudy domain. The hotel staff was awesome although there was only one english speaker that I found, Yasunari Henmi is a great asset Winery Hills Hotel. After Yasunari found out I was a landscape photographer he would google up beautiful waterfalls and beaches nearby, print them out and give them to me with directions on how to find them. Yasunari was a great host. The hotel has several hot spring pools and a great restaurant. The room had a tea water warmer that always had hot water for my instant coffee, the room also had what I would guess was a traditional tea room I did not use since I was traveling alone. My only complaint is the parking lot was not lit at 4am when I was leaving for photos; however it was lit in the evening when normal people access it.

  More of an onsen type of hotel

  Hotel located near the top of a hill where the Winery is. We had planned to have dinner at the Winery the hotel is part of. But when checking in we were told the Winery only serves lunch. A lot of people staying in the hotel clearly came to enjoy the onsen and spa services. There is also a mixed outdoor onsen where bathing suits are required. We didn't use the onsen so I can't comment on it. Rooms were ok, the tiniest of bathrooms, but of course they expect their guests to use the onsen instead. Beds were comfy. We had what they called the Smorgasbord dinner with free wine from the Winery, had to pay for beer. The Smorgasbord was in fact a buffet with a large variety of items which they kept replenishing when needed. Breakfast was buffet style as well with Japanese and western items, they even had an espresso machine making delicious coffee. Friendly service, not a lot of English speaking staff. Wifi in the lobby only.

  baseball tournament

  a great unforgettable place for sports tournaments and training. it is an isolated place up a hill with no distractions. great environment. perfect for tea, building and conventions. great weather. it is not for touridts though it has a perfect view of mt. fuji. it is for retreat or team sport travel.
