  Great pub food, friendly staff.

  Reading glasses left behind and returned to me interstate promptly with no charge. Friendly efficient staff. Great place to stay too, comfortable rooms in this centrally located hotel. Good access to public transport and walking distance to the University of Melbourne.

  Great pub food and very nice rooms

  We stayed here for a night and had dinner at the restaurant as well. The food and service were great (classics done really well and some more modern dishes as well) and the rooms were clean and very nicely decorated. Would definitely stay here again.

  Form Over Function

  This is a hotel I would really love to give 5 stars to, but unfortunately I can't quite do it. First the great things. The location is great, the tram truly does stop just across the street. The staff is friendly and helpful. They responded to emails before we arrived and quickly fixed a couple of issues while we were there. The room is really a lovely room. Our room had three tall windows which let in lots of light. There's not much of a view, but the room seems bright and airy. There is a coffee bar area with tea as well, and milk is provided in the mini fridge. My wife especially liked their coffee. I appreciated the bottle filled with water daily and put in the fridge. They also put the glasses there as well so they are cold. The bathroom is mostly white solid surfaces which also feels bright and clean. It feels very charming. So what's not to like? Most of the things are small thing, but they do add up. First let me note that there are only narrow stairs to the rooms. This was not a big deal for us, but should be pointed out. Our first issue was there is no place to put a suitcase except the floor. A nice wooden bench under one of the windows could easily be put in without negatively impacting the look of the room, and it would be so much more convenient. I also felt the TV was too high especially if you are sitting in the chair, but perhaps that's personal preference. The bathroom has more issues. The weather was cool while we were there, and the floor tiles were very cold in the morning. The shower floor was very shiny and somewhat slick. Twice I slipped a bit in the shower. Also the water can change temperature in the shower, and the hot water is very hot. Not a good situation. We found the vessel sink very shallow for our needs even though it looked good. All in all we felt the bathroom looked great but did not function as well as it could. The big concern for us was the internet. We found it to be slow and at times unresponsive. It was usually better in the morning, but it was just not reliable. We use the internet to keep in contact with family and to check out plans for the day so this was frustrating. Overall this is a nice place to stay, but it could have been a better stay with a little more attention to detail.

  Great pub

  A really good local pub this. Freindly, excellent staff, a great range if bars and a terrific kitchen. The menu offers all of your pub classics but also has additional dishes to make it an intersting menu. an outdoor seating area, traditional tables and a set of booths so something for every group.

  Rooms are conveniently located

  Naughton's Hotel is very conveniently located on tree-lined Royal Parade, it's only 10 minutes by tram to the University of Melbourne and 15 minutes to the City. The hotel has 11 rooms -- king-size, queen-size and twin. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. As is the practice these days, prices are not fixed but are set according to demand, but as one staff member said "with COVID, there's not much demand these days." Prices at the moment are around $140 per night. Naughton's has a number of dining options if you want to dine at the hotel, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free..
