  Pretty + Amazing

  Without a doubt one of the favorite places I stayed during my many visits back home over the years! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) .The rooms were well equipped and the service was excellent. Short stroll over the front lawn we could view and feel the ocean. The location absolutely perfect. Honestly felt like a private beach, very clean and clear water, a very good place to relax and chill. We had two great days here.

  Warm, homey and beautiful boutique

  We stayed here for my wifes birthday and it was incredible, the staff noticed it was her birthday when they took copies of our passports so they surprised us with a cake that the chef baked! The hotel is beautiful and rooms are super comfortable. The location is great but its not very convenient to walk anywhere, youll have to take a tuk-tuk. But its a 10 minute ride and super easy to get one anywhere you go in Sri Lanka so really fine. The food is awesome and super fresh, we had the most incredible lobster for dinner, it was probably the best meal we had in our whole trip and they consistently had the best food. We loved staying here and would stay here again. Special thank you to the incredible staff that made us feel so at home.

  Perfect place with wonderful and peaceful surroundings

  Visited Satin Doll during the past weekend. We were a group of 6 adults and booked 3 rooms but had the whole place to ourselves. It is a wonderful place right beside the Galle road but perfectly hidden away from the hustle of the road. It has a perfect private beach and sweet little pool and a large well maintained garden. The ambience of the place is astounding. The staff and the meals were amazing. They were very helpful and thoughtful. Never did we have to "ask" for anything. They were very proactive and made sure our stay was super relaxing and perfect.

  Absolutely Fantastic

  Hihghly recommended. Superb service, great location and wonderful food. Have been visiting Sri Lanka for over 20 years and this has become one of my favourite places to stay. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

  Friendly staff, but no "wow-factor" here

  The staff were quite friendly, as was the resident dog, Millie! The location was pretty with its own private beach and a beautiful colonial home. We did have a nice time and were able to relax with the ocean breeze. :) That being said, there was no "wow factor" that so many Sri Lankan boutique hotels have (and that so many other reviewers boasted about). The room was perhaps the smallest we've stayed in on the island. Additionally, the food was... fine? It reminded us of the type of food you'd find at a chain restaurant in North America like an Applebees or something similar. Nothing wrong with it, but very generic. Sri Lanka has incredible food, so this was quite disappointing. Also, their menu only has a handful of options, so having to choose between the same few items each night felt a bit silly. One of the biggest draws for us to travel on the weekends is for the amazing cuisine offered at boutique hotels, but unfortunately this was not the case here. There was nothing wrong with Satin Doll at all - but there are many other truly breathtaking experiences to be had just kilometers away for a similar price.
