    Beautiful Unique Hotel

We only stayed here for the one night, but of our entire trip (with 6 different hotel stays) this was by far our favourite! It has all the amenities of a hotel, but is very unique in it's style and is much more personal than an average hotel. It is set back off the road with plenty of parking and a garden to the side. Our room itself was located at the front of the house, had a huge bathroom, and a lovely small balcony. The room itself was very clean and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a lovely breakfast was served in the morning. Location was also great, and only a short walk to Lake Como, shops, bars and restaurants. We most certainly intend to be back for a longer stay next time round!

The only good news are position, wifi and (more and less) the external look.

This potentially nice Italian locanda (not a proper hotel, but a restaurant with few rooms) is below the standards that should belong to such a nice village (even if, unfortunately, also most of the other hotels in the area are not up to the name of the place). Everything is old fashion, badly cared and gives the impression of a facility created just to generate money with minimum effort (but price was reasonable), without any love for beauty nor consideration for the most basic rules of order, Italian style and tradition. The reception is a very small bar, the narrow steep stairs taking to the rooms are covered by a horrible, old and not so clean carpet. The minuscule corridor is filled by plastic plant, vacuum cleaner, closet, etc. My room was big and clean enough, but the minimum (desk 50 cm wide), ugly and old furniture together with lack of any idea of decoration, made it empty looking and shabby. The bathroom must have been recently renovated with cheap tiles of modern style not matching the room. Because of bad window insulation, the temperature was too low in spite of bathroom heater, air conditioner and central heating all on at the same time. For the same reason the noise from the cars running in the small street in front of the hotel, was clearly audible. The electrical network is made of plastic conduits attached to the old walls here and there without any consideration for geometry, harmony and beauty; in spite of that, loose wires hang everywhere. My king size bed was actually two beds and two separate mattresses connected together. The old spring mattresses and the gap between them were a pain in the back for all nights. If someone talks in the corridor, it is like he is in the room. The restaurant, besides its old style and floor needing to be re-made, looks better but I didnt have the courage to dine there. Breakfast starts at 8, too late for any businessman, good reason together with the poverty of the choice (only warm dish is the toast) to get a good cappuccino outside. If you need the reception you better go there nobody answers the phone. All in all, it is a shame to see a place with such a great potential so badly run. The locanda would require a 1 year shut down for complete renovation and modernization assigned to a good architect, go there only after that!

    Sweet hotel but not comfortable...

We stayed at T.C whilst in Como for a wedding for 4 nights. The hotel itself is very charming, pretty and quaint with an old elderly Labrador roaming around and old fashioned keys to open the doors. It's well located and has free parking and what I hear, a very lovely restaurant. The doors remain open and there is a lovely ambience to the place, as well as a charming courtyard, and the staff are very lovely. However, we had a couple of issues with the hotel. Especially paying over 100 euros a night, we expected slightly better. Not The Ritz... just our money's worth. 1) The breakfast was very lacking. Especially for Italy we were quite surprised... chocolate doughnuts (delicious but strange breakfast), neon-coloured orange juice, greying boiled eggs and bread to make cheese & ham toasties so white and sweet it's basically a desert. I don't eat wheat or gluten so had a bit of a hard time and was forced to eat yogurt which I didn't particularly want. They also have a very strict breakfast rule where it ends at 10am (even on weekends) which is quite early especially if you're having late nights and it's the summer! We felt pressured to get there before 10am, and on one morning where we came down at 10 past, they were getting a bit eggy with us saying they needed to clear breakfast. For what? The hotel was near empty and we were sitting in one of their dining rooms (not even the main restaurant)- it couldn't have been quieter and there was seriously no need to jostle us so much. The breakfast could have easily gone on longer. Friends staying also agreed. Lovely coffees and hot water for tea however. The second issue was our bed. Our room was a superior, with a sweet balcony overlooking the front of the hotel- which was lovely. Although the room was very outdated with unsightly art and the world's most uncomfortable bed. The pillows were tissue thin and our double was in fact just two singles pushed together... both of us sharing a paper thin sheet instead of a nice duvet as we hoped. Air Con and ventilation in the room was great, although the shutters of the balcony had large gaps (and curtains were thin white linen) allowing tons of hot sunlight to come pouring into the room at 5am, which woke us up. There was a safe in the room, but only had a key lock and it was so light you could pick it up if you wanted... basically defeating the whole point. The whole room could do with updating, but the bed really was very uncomfortable and we slept badly the whole four nights. Last but not least- the noise. This has to be the noisiest hotel i've ever stayed in. There seems to be a church right next door as we awoke almost every hour to the incredibly loud church bells. They don't just toll for the hour they also play songs, and tunes afterwards that go on for what seems like eternity. The walls in the hotel are paper thin and you can hear conversations going on in the corridor as though they are in your room, and we had people chatting outside our room at 2am. The dog, who is very sweet, seemed to bark all early morning without being hushed. On top of that very loud drilling and works are going on all around the vicinity of the hotel which woke us up feeling very tired, sore and a bit grumpy. Hotel is great for a spot of supper or maybe a one night stay, but no more.
