  Dont accept Rm 109

  A beautiful building overlooking a pleasant park. Looking at the photos I think I was in a different hotell!! The bathroom may have had attention in the 70s on the generous side, The shower temperature was boiling hot or scalding hot so couldnt be used. When reported to the male asian receptionist he seemed rather uninterested no apology. When we checked in receptionist was chatty and informative& agreed to book us a taxi for 630. When we came down for our taxi it would appear there was some confusion over taxi bookings and we ended up being late for our 645 dinner reservation. Once in bed there was a constant dripping from outside (we checked bathroom & our radiators first) which we could do nothing about. In the morning the squeaky floorboards from the upstairs guest woke us up followed by noise from the kitchen below our room and the strange aroma No not of bacon but of weed!!! So we decided not to risk breakfast.The downstairs reception & bar area has been updated not in keeping with the building but more in keeping with a tidy hostel the electric panel is sited on the wall like a decoration. (not even within regulations!) On the positives the bed was very comfy and if you could get a front room the view would be better than the bins plus you would be on the far side of the not too unpleasant church chimes.

  Staff need dress smarter

  Visited with my husband, we had to wait quite a while for a table but that wasnt a problem. There was a big delay in the food coming out of the kitchen and this resulted in a very loud argument between two customers and a very loud receptionist. They had waited over an hour between courses. The receptionist shouted, if you dont like it get out! Several people were complaining to the manager who was dressed very scruffily as was the receptionist, not professional at all. I felt sorry for the waitress who worked very hard but had to deal with constant complaints. We got our three courses with no problems and it was very nice. I think they need a new chef as he obviously couldnt keep up and new manager to take control

  Still no refund!

  Booked 2 rooms to stay for a night in March but it was cancelled due to COVID (understandable). We asked for a refund and have been given an email address as thats the only person who can authorise the refund. 4 months later and many phone calls and emails, no response from the Manager and still not had a refund. Shame on you for holding peoples money!

  Disgrace

  Bought a voucher from Groupon for a three course Sunday lunch for four. Booked a table via the groupon booking tool and on the day set off for our family meal out. All sounded good. When we arrived the place looked almost derelict, and when we found someone inside they told us it was in fact no longer operating as a hotel but is now a shelter for the homeless. Why this place is still advertising as being in business Is anyones guess. Disgraceful.

  Haunted

  Omg dont stay here.... Spooky, cold, disgusting, strange and BLOODY FRIKIN HAUNTED... I woke up about 3am in the morning and as a laid in bed a bloody ghost honest to GOD Walked past my bed my husband also saw a ghost in the bathroom...... I was sooo spooked... Like the hotel california.... Couldn't wait to check out.... They refunded us as heating wasn't on.... Terrible experience
