  THEY CANCELLED US AT THE LAST MINUTE!

  THIS ORGANISATION HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ETHICS. We had a 9 night stay booked and paid by our travel agent many weeks in advance. After we arrived in Korea, but two days before we were due to check in to Value Hotel, travel agent advised that the hotel had cancelled our booking. This was the Winter Olympic period, and accommodation was scarce, fortunately the agency was able to book us elsewhere from back in Australia, as we found the language barrier to be great in South Korea, despite the best intentions of all parties. We actually walked past this hotel several times during our time in Jumunjin, as we eventually stayed nearby, and construction was still under way. Accepting our booking at all, and the late cancellation was unconscionable and unprincipled, if the hotel was not completed. Do not be deceived, because the hotel is in the fishing town of Jumunjin, north of Gangneung. As interesting as the town of Jumunjin is, being a roaring, fully working fishing port, areas of it are filthy, and sometimes the smell of the streets was a little overwhelming, possibly due to lack of rainfall flushing out the drain system, at the time we visited (the tail end of winter). It is a 20 plus minute cab ride from Gangneung KTX Rail Station, worth about KRW 23,000 when we were there. I have dated photos of the construction site at this hotel, and email records of the cancellation of our reservation.

  Superb Breakfast and Good scent toiletries

  When we were in Gangwondo, I didn't much consider our hotel's location since we were provided with all the necessary transportation, and tourist spots in the area would really require tour operator. (You may contact Lion and Lamb Travel to give you good rates, expertise, and kind assistance at 09985526041) our Hotel is close to Jumunjin Waterbreak where the Famous Goblin koreanovela was shoot. Our room size was good enough to accommodate 3 pax provided with basic room amenities, and the food, its superb! Thanks Value Hotel :D

  Nice breakfast

  Had an overnight stay here. This was my second time staying in the hotel. The breakfast food, as always, was delicious. The hotel staffers were friendly and all smiles when they greeted us. The rooms are clean. Complimentary tea bags, coffee and bottled water were provided. Complete set of toiletries too were provided.

  Terrible Hotel

  We were staying together with my husband and my 8yrs old daughter 3 nights in this hotel. I know we are coming from Europe but to be honest I have never seen in my life such a way of treating clients. We did check in and they asked us to pre pay in advance the full stay, until then I can understand they might have different policies. None explained us about the breakfast or where they served lunch or dinner. They dont speak English and the one who can speak a bit wasnt there or didnt want to take too much time to apologise. We came into the room and despite my reservation was for a two twin beds, we got two single. We went to the reception and tried to explained them the difference between single and twin. Finally the manager on duty came and he gave us another room with one double and one single bed. Our room was not clean. We have found dust everywhere and the closet was also dirty. We did not have enough towels either. We asked and they came to clean it. Floor was also dirty. The first morning despite we left the keys of the car at the reception they called to the room at 9 oclock to asked for them. Finally they found them. In the afternoon we wanted to use one of the two pools and we first went to the 5th floor but was all in the shadows so we went up to the infinity pool on the 15th floor. After 10 they came to explained in a very poor English that wasnt allowed for kids, so we went back down again to the 5th floor. We were trying to find a small spot to relax a bit while our daughter was swiming (or trying to because was absolutely full). Suddenly someone came to charge for the sun beds (not sure how much but something about 30.000 KW ~ 25 for each!!!!). Yes yes yes!!! In this hotel they charged not only for the sun beds but for chairs and tables if you want to eat something. After a discussion with the waitress who was trying to charge us someone else came and also explained to us that we needed to pay also to enter to the swiming pool area!!!! So, if you are a family of 3 you pay 75 for the sun beds and others 50 for the admission!!! All after paying for a small and not really clean room about 180 per night without breakfast!!! The pool area was terrible and small. We didnt even want to try the breakfast and we went out every morning to grab something outside the hotel. Second day they forgot to clean out room. Last but not least in this hotel even when you put NOT DISTURB they knock at your door!!!!

  good but not fabulous

  room very good : clean and spacious . good breakfast and 2 swimming pools are in supplement. strange to have 2 swimming pool with nobody inside because you have to pay 20 000 krw per day ! the location is a little far from train station but in the middle between Gangneung and Yangyang. Yangyang is at 30 min by bus.
