  Beautiful New Hotel

  There's something really nice about staying in a new hotel. It's a bit like driving a new car or moving into a new home or apartment; everything is new, clean and unspoiled. The new Wanda Realm Changzhou, which opened in August 2014, certainly did not disappoint in any major way. Our guestroom was tastefully decorated with the use of quality materials and an obvious attention to detail quite apparent. The public areas are all very impressive and are also stylishly decorated. Being a lap-swimming enthusiast, I particularly liked the large swimming pool on Level 5. It appeared to be about 20 meters in length and was heated to a comfortable, but not too warm, 28 degrees C. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute taxi ride from the main Changzhou train station on the high-speed railway between Shanghai and Nanjing. Although the area surrounding the hotel is not particularly interesting, there is a large shopping center - the Wanda Mall - about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel, with a supermarket on the basement and a number of fast-food outlets and restaurants. The land immediately across from the hotel appears to be slated for new apartments. We stayed on a Monday night and the hotel was not at all busy at the time, although from talking to some of the hotel staff, the occupancy on weekends is apparently much higher. We had dinner at the Chinese restaurant on the hotel's Level 2 and breakfast in the cafe located just off the hotel lobby. The food and service were quite good and the prices were reasonable. However, we did find the food at dinner, and also at our lunch at one of the restaurants in the Wanda Mall, a bit too salty. We found the beds in our room to be very comfortable and the traffic noise was not an issue. The hotel staff members that we encountered were enthusiastic and helpful, with some having quite good English - although that's not normally an issue for us as my wife speaks mandarin. We had a great time and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Changzhou.

  Above and beyond

  My wife and myself were in Changzhou on business. We've stayed in many hotels in the past but none can measure up to the standards that we experienced at the Wanda Realm Changzhou. From the beautiful room to the excellent food, everything was impeccable. The facilities were spotless and very convenient. When it comes to the staff, that's where they've really outdone themselves. Everybody is so ready to help in anyway possible and always with a smile. I'd like to make a special comment with regards to Owen, the reception manager, and his staff, Andy and Lily. These three went above and beyond to help me and are the reason I was prompted to write this review. Thank guys, you made our stay an absolute joy. David Graziani Montreal, Quebec, Canada

  Nice hotel, well located in Changzhou

  Stayed only for two nights on business but would def return if the opportunity arises. Breakfast buffet was ok, dinner in the hotel was nice Chinese kitchen. Room was very spacious although it felt like there was a cabinet piece of furniture or so missing. Was too lazy to try the gym.

  Swimming Pool Staff Unbelievably Rude

  We did not stay in the hotel, but my Changzhou wife wanted to swim in their pool, she had a discount voucher, which as soon as they saw it they turned up their noses at her and acted like she was some peasant off the street who didn't belong here. You may find the service OK if you go purely with other Westerners, but personally I found them incredibly racist and pretentious against their own people.
