Ants in the room!I would not recommend staying in this place. There were ants in my room, the furniture, curtains and bed linen were extremely old. Strong smell of smoke everywhere. The cleaning could also be better. However, there were some good points as well: tasty breakfast, friendly staff. If smoke and ants don't bother you, it might be a place for you.

Very convenient for ViennaI stayed in this hotel for four nights at the start of a motoring road trip around a fairly large part of Austria. I used this hotel as a base to visit and see the many sights of Vienna for three days. The hotel was very easy to locate and the chap who I saw most during my stay was helpful in allowing me to park my car round the back of the hotel in their own parking lot. I don't know if this is available for everybody who might arrive by car but it was certainly useful as I was able to pop down to the car whenever I needed anything from it. Overall I was very happy with my stay here. The single room I had was more than adequate. There was plenty of storage space, a desk for my computer gear, the bed was comfortable and bathroom facilities were good. There is free reliable wifi internet access throughout the hotel. There was a good breakfast selection available each morning in the dining room. One slightly odd thing about getting to the dining room from my room on the third floor was that it involved a bit of a hike with various sets of steps and corridors to negotiate. I guess that was simply due to the way the hotel was built. It could be that at some time two buildings have been combined into one. This might be a point worth bearing in mind though if you have mobility problems. As well as breakfast in the dining room there is a bar and cafe area on the ground floor. I had a couple of good schnitzel meals there during my stay accompanied by very agreeable radler lemon flavoured beer which seems a popular drink in Austria. To reach Vienna city center from Klosternuberg is quite simple using the local S Bahn train service, the station for which is just a two minute walk away over the other side of the road. Trains run every half hour and you can buy a variety of ticket options from machines on the platforms. For at least two of the days I traveled there were young people on hand in OBB, Austrian Rail, jackets to help with using the machines and give advice. They spoke English with no problem. I would recommend taking the train as far as the Heilgenstadt stop where you can then get onto the extensive underground network that covers the whole city area. If you do come to the hotel by car one great place to go to get a superb view of Vienna, the Danube and surrounding countryside is the Hohenstrasse road leading to Leopoldsberg. This is just a 15 minute drive just to the south of the hotel. It's easily found on Google Maps. It's a great winding uphill road that eventually leads out to a stunning viewpoint. Well worth the drive. So all in all to sum up I would have no hesitation in suggesting this hotel if you want to stay slightly away from Vienna itself. By doing so you probably save a fair bit on price but will still easily be able to access all that the great city has to offer. Final opinion is Recommended.

DisappointedMy reception last night was hearty and friendly, gentleman on reception was very helpful. However, this morning is very different. Stench of cigarettes in the stairs gives away an indoors smoking room. I didn't know this was still legal in Europe! Breakfast was ... underwhelming. A cold 'selection' of continental option and very limited cereals. No healthy options except the fruit basket and not even toast. Staff were certainly not friendly! Coffee was awful. Room was clean and generously proportioned for a single, but not looking forward to another night/ morning here

Best food we had in Europe!Hotel Anker was an absolutely charming and a lovely place to stay at. It was perfectly located in Klosterneuburg and the bus to Vienna stops right in front of the hotel. The staff were very warm and friendly. The best thing about Hotel Anker was definitely the food at their cafe. We were in Europe for 3 weeks travelling around Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Austria and out of everything we ate during the 3 weeks the food here was definitely the best! Every dish we had were really great. We were extremely pleased with the hospitality and the warmth we received here and would highly recommend to anyone planning to travel here.
