  A lovely old house with some history

  We stayed in the Sapphire Suite and enjoyed the open fireplace (plenty of wood left for the night and it was set up and ready to be lit when we got there) and a large corner spa in the bathroom which was really good. The suite was spotless and the bed was comfortable for us and it was very quiet. There is a full size fridge, microwave, plates etc but not really anywhere to wash them except for a washing up bowl and water needs to be accessed from the bathroom. However this didn't bother us as we ate out. Very short walk to main street of Tanunda. We would stay here again.

  Location and comfort

  Very nice accommodation within easy walking distance of the town centre. Quiet, comfortable and clean. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments. Queen bed in one room and king in the other. No complaints at all. Reasonably pricy but you get what you pay for. Location is the key.

  Beware!!! Luxury this is NOT......

  We are eight friends holidaying in Clare Valley and the Barossa. We rented the whole house. From the outside this property looked lovely. Inside it is dark, dreary and smelly. The sheets and towels are grey. The four bathrooms all leak. One bathroom has a tub so high off the ground you need a chair to get into it and when you are in the shower curtain wraps itself around you and leaks water all over the floor. The shower and tapware are rusty. One of the other showers is so small you could not fit in if you were more than a size 10. Two of the bedrooms have "kitchens". That would be tea making facilities, a fridge and microwave and a tub to wash dishes which does not fit under the tap in the bathroom. The sofas are old, torn and grubby. The "formal" dining room has chairs that you sink into and touch the wood at the bottom. The beds are like bricks and the pillows are as thin as cardboard. One kitchen has a peeling wooden bench that I am sure the health department would deem unhealthy. The dishwasher in this kitchen actually fell out of the wall twice and when we used the toaster it shorted the electricity every time we used it until it was replaced. The other kitchen is accessed through one of the bedrooms so could not be used until the occupants woke in the morning. This made breakfast for eight very challenging. The laundry had a passable washing machine and drier. However it was also for the use of the other four units at the back of the property. A sign saying use was between 10:30am and 9:30pm was completely ignored by those residents. The roof of the laundry had a possum nest hanging out of it so we did not wish to use it at night without a bodyguard. The reviews on this property are mainly referring to the four brand new units at the rear of the property. We were asked to pay in full before arrival......now we know why. We would not have stayed if we had viewed the property first. The staff however are very pleasant!!!

  Romancing the stone

  Such a lovely Victorian stone property-we stayed in the diamond 3 bedroom apartment, felt very grand for just the two of us...not that we wished we had invited the kids! Beautiful bottle of red awaited us which we enjoyed with some market cheese by the prepared open fire. Captured all we hoped for our anniversary weekend to the Barossa.

  Very happy

  We stayed in Ruby - it was comfortable, clean and roomy with everything we needed. The previous 3 nights had been spent in a very average, over-priced unit in the north, so we really appreciated our stay. The kitchen was great - everything you could ever need, the bed huge and very warm. Close to all the handy stuff in Tanunda. More than happy to recommend!
