  Dirtiest hotel

  We were on our way to Florida for the winter and decided to take a different route through Dothan. I made reservations based on a friends recommendation. The room we were assigned to was filthy! The bathroom was filthy! There was a used tampon next to the bed. The bottom of my husbands feet were black from walking on the floor. I know the Clarion is not top of the line and the furnishings were definitely old, but a filthy room is not acceptable! I DO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

  Awful

  Absolutely awful. I dont even want to give this place one star. As you can see the AC/Heating unit had no cover and the cords were exposed on the floor. The carpet was stained. The paint was peeling and the bathroom was filthy. Next door the people were partying hard and loud. Meth I think by the sounds. Called the front desk, who came and told them to keep it down. They did till he went back to the lobby. Then they reported my husband and I for being too loud which prompted a phone call from the front desk, waking my husband who had been driving since six AM. Didnt wake me since I was up all night from the noise. We could have gone to a different hotel, but non-refundable room. This was our second terrible hotel experience in Dothan, so, we wont be staying in this town again.

  Not Clarion Standards

  Made a quick decision to stay at this hotel after making online reservation. The first thing that led me to believe this place was not up to par was the message board under the Clarion sign. A bunch of jumbled letter and numbers. Front desk employee had a nice demeanor, but had no uniform or name badge. This is an older hotel that was showing its age on the outside, but the parking lot was well lit. At best, our room was OK. It was noticeable that furnishings had been replaced in recent years along with a flat screen tv. But that is where the good part ended. The carpet was thoroughly stained, and the bathroom just needed to be gutted. Found a 3 inch long hair near the drain of the bathtub, the toilet was badly stained, and the door knob was very loose. We did not shower on this stay, because it was that bad. There was even a lightbulb missing from the table lamp. On top of that, you do not have a clock or hair dryer to use. I was quite an experience, and one that we will not repeat by staying here.

  Dirty and Unsafe

  I booked this hotel for an overnight stay on our way to PCB as everything was booked in the town that we ususally stop at on our way down. I chose this one because we have always had excellent stays with Clarion. This hotel should not be allowed to use the name Clarion. Upon arriving the front lobby did not look bad, but on check in the receptionist advised us that our rooms (had adjoining rooms for the six of us) were in the back, but to park on the side, as it was well lit. When we got out of our car to walk to the rooms we noticed several men hanging out of rooms, smoking and just watching us. I felt very uncomfortable. I'm assuming most of these people lived there. Very heavy smell of pot and cigerette smoke. Upon entering the rooms, my husband immediately came out of his and told me that we were not staying. There were multiple bugs in the bathroom, mold, stains on the bedding, heavy smell of stale cigerette smoke (non smoking rooms) and just overall filthy. When walking back out to get in our car a man stepped out of his room and followed us. I truly felt so unsafe. I went back to the lobby and told her we would not be staying. She did say that our money would be put back on our credit card, which it did. With that being said, we not no longer had a place to stay after driving for almost 12 hours. Thankfully we were able to find a very nice room at the Comfort Suites in Marianna, Fl. This hotel definitely needs to be removed from the Clarion Choice Hotels list!!

  SHAME ON THE CLARION INSPECTOR !!!!

  After having no luck finding a pet friendly hotel, someone said that the Clarion had rooms. Upon arriving, I noticed that the employee checking me in had a shirt that said 'SECURITY' and he was carrying a 9mm Glock pistol. That was the first red flag. As I pulled into a parking place in front of my room,I saw two men dragging a woman out of a room,and tried to sit her up.Then,the paramedics arrived and administered narcan to revive her. I took my luggage and dog up to my room,only to find the key cards didn't work.There were some sketchy people sitting nearby,so I took everything back to the car and returned to the lobby to get new keys. That set didn't work either. Got another set that didn't work either.I called the front desk on my cell to have someone bring keys. After a long wait, a man came with keys, but told me that the door lock needs reprogramming. He was sending the maintenance man. So,after spending an hour to get in the room, I found the tub rusty and dirty with someone's hair stuck to it. The baseboards were pulled away from the wall. No soap, no shampoo, and two towels that you could see through. The room was dirty and the desk top was sticky. There were a lot of people hanging around outside of rooms and in the stairwell.They rent to locals by the month. Doesn't feel safe at night. If you have enjoyed staying at Clarion Hotels,do not expect that here. After just retiring from 40 years in hotel management, I know that any respectable manager would not take pride representing this sad excuse for a hotel operation. And where is the Clarion inspector? I think corporate needs to take a look at his inspections. There is no way that Clarion would attach their brand to this place,if they were aware of the sloppy operation.
