  Not your standard Courtyard

  My daughter and I were in town from Atlanta for a family function. There wasnt enough room at my moms house for us so we opted to get a room at the Courtyard. Id assumed this was a safe bet as Ive stayed at many courtyards in the past. Upon arrival there was a sign that stated the desk attendant had stepped away. It was 9:30pm and we were exhausted but we waited. About 10 minutes later she showed up. Earlier in the day Id called and requested a higher floor away from elevators. While checking in, I received the key for room 333. My daughter and I go to the room on the third floor at the far end of the building only to find the door was propped open. I know of shady business that happens at this hotel and it scared me. In hindsight I shouldve left and slept on my moms couch. But I was tired and ready for sleep. I did a quick look through the room to make sure no one was hiding. The room was hot and smelled of mildew. The beds werent made up properly which makes me wonder if this room had been used for nefarious purposes. The floor was disgustingly dirty. (Our shoes were sticking to the carpet!) The toilet had black mold growing in it. The shower was moldy. There were bugs around the sink area. (Had to throw away my toothbrush) The bathroom floor hadnt been swept or cleaned as there were stains and debris on it. Stay away and take your money to Merry Acres. Albany is a scary place. This Courtyard seems to being going down the drain just like the city. I did speak to the front desk lady that night and she said she must have left the door open by mistake while checking the room. If this is the case, that is extremely dangerous based on the knowledge I have about this and many other hotels in Albany. Ive also called Marriott corporate and filed a complaint. Hoping to get my Marriott points back.

  needs a lot more than the current "remodel"

  The property is undergoing a "remodel", which to me seemed more like putting a fresh coat of paint over something that needs a LOT more than fresh paint. The rooms are partially updated, the tubs and tile are still old and unsightly. The wall paper was poorly redone. Overall the property did not seem clean or well kept and they were just gliding over bigger problems with a "remodel". Our room bedding looked old and the bedding looked like it had not been changed. One of the pillows did not have a case on it. I asked for hot water at the restaurant and that was not readily available. The employee had to speak to the manager. When the employee came back with my travel mug, the water was warm and clearly came from the hot water faucet as it had the white look hot tap water gets from the bubbles. Anyone working in a restaurant should know to not use hot water from a faucet for drinking. The employee at the front desk, was helpful and nice and did a very good job remaining professional while he clearly seemed embarrassed to have to listen to me explain that the room did not look clean. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. As for the employee, I hope he finds somewhere he can be proud to work at.

  Nice entrance and commons area, rooms not so much.

  I didn't expect much in Albany, GA and it didn't disappoint. I am a platinum member and I don't think I received an upgrade which is no biggie, but the room was rough for being a "renovated" hotel. Also, no free breakfast. I accidentally entered the Fairfield Inn next door and probably should have stayed there in retrospect. The tub, bathroom, tv and everything about the hotel was just old. But it still may be one of the better places in Albany.

  Solid. Not outstanding

  Stayed 3 nights. Second floor. Never saw anyone in the bistro each morning so had to drive and get breakfast. Bed was firm enough, room seemed fairly clean and I slept ok. Tip. Clean the stainless steel elevator doors and walls as they are Terribly dirty. TV small. All in all it was ok. Probably will try again given the local options.

  Good spot to stay, has excellent staff

  We were visiting our young man who's serving at the Marine Base in Albany. This hotel is about 10 minutes from the downtown, so it's convenient. The lobby and lounge facilities are nice, and the rooms are fine. The front desk staff, led by Damian, allows this hotel to stand out. They made every effort to accommodate our needs, answer our questions and ensure a good stay. We'll stay there again.
