Great apartment which is part of the Raptor Foundation. Excellent experience.

We arrived late on a cold winters night, after a two hour drive in the rain. On arrival we found the key safe according to the instructions given to late comers and with the help of another resident, found our room. What a joy to open the door to warmth and cozyness. Our room was actually more like an apartment. A well equipped kitchen with microwave, eating area with a T.V for those who like breakfast TV. The shower room with WC was very clean and warm, The shower worked efficiently. Towels, toiletries were provided and a hair dryer was available in the dressing table drawer. The beds were so comfortable with crisp sheets. Again there was a wall mounted TV. The whole place was warm, snug, and very comfortable. In the morning we viewed a few of the beautiful, and well cared for birds. We wished that we had more time there but were on a tight schedule. There is a cafe on site and breakfasts are available - and hot chocolate on a winter's morning was the icing on the cake. Falcons Nest was excellent value for money.

    Shocking!

Where do I start? Arrived late and in the dark, signage was small and limited so really struggled to find it. On arrival there is inadequate signage to direct you to the rooms. Numbers for the key safes are faded and again, in the dark, I struggled to find the correct one. Luckily another guest happened to appear and kindly guided me. The room was dirty, dust everywhere and on all the appliances. As they advertise a kitchinette and cookware, one would assume this includes pots and pans indicating a cooker or hob....there is neither. Having brought food to cook, a stinky old microwave is insufficient. Cookware includes 2 rotten wooden spoons and a filthy chopping board. Glasses and cutlery were stained and covered in dried on food. The shower cubicle was full of mould and god knows what was splashed all up the wall around the toilet and right by the toilet roll and holder. Having emptied the sink after washing my face, I was stunned to see the waste water come up in to the shower tray, the stench was horrific. My sleep was disturbed throughout the night as the boiler is 15ft from the bed and this came on and off regularly so avoid room 5 if you want a quiet night. Throughout my stay I saw nobody, not on arrival or leaving, reception was closed and the key left in a letterbox. Again the website states that breakfast is available yet at 8am nothing was open and there is no indication as to if or where breakfast is served. I would not recommend this place and think the details on the website are misleading. Needless to say I won't be stopping here again.

    Hidden gem

I booked this expecting a standard little B & B, instead I discovered each room was an individual apartment, spacious comfortable and warm, as a guest you get free access to the park. Overall it was a lovely stay, just not long enough.

Where else can you open the blinds in the morning and see Meerkats!

Our room was huge, with kettle, toaster and microwave, plus tea and coffees and toiletries provided. It was part of the Raptor Foundation buildings so is right there by the animals/birds in the sanctuary, for which you get free entry if you are staying there. The accommodation is so good, clean but basic, that we are only going to book here whenever we are visiting the area. Seriously, this place made our break perfect.

    Good enough

Bit dusty in the nooks and crannies but good if you get a deal. You also get to see the Raptor Foundation. I was in room 1. Came early enough to vacate the flies. WiFi didn't work for me (poor signal strength and never got past obtaining IP address/IP Configuration error failure) and I had sporadic and intermittent mobile network coverage. Forced into an early night which isn't such a bad thing. Has a fridge and kitchen that looks very new but there was a humming sound from the fridge so I turned it down to 0 and that made the environment lovely and quiet. Can adjust the thermostat to control the heating. That is relatively quiet, you hear the water through the radiators and then some creaking if you turn it on. I only had it on for a short time. They have a soap bottle in the bathroom and washing up liquid by the kitchen sink. Shampoo and shower gel come in little bottles. I bring my own as I'm trying to reduce waste and never know if places have refillable bottles or not. Am hoping they are transitioning away from the single use items. I chose the firmer mattress towards the far end. It also smelt fresh and clean.
