  Sufficient, but nothing special

  Stayed for one night for a conference. If you are staying in Mankato for a conference, the Hilton Garden Inn is your only viable option right now as the City Center Hotel seems completely dysfunctional. Check-in was not great. I came around 1pm...was told right away I would not even be considered to be checked-in and to come back in an hour. Came back around 2:35pm and was told my room wasn't ready. I was supposed to be on the eighth floor and after pushing for what rooms were available, I was put on third floor. Not sure if they were short-staffed, but saw one cleaning staff member a couple times in the parking ramp taking a smoke break. My room was fine, but noticed I had very little kleenex in the bathroom. Since my room was right across from the skyway to the convention area, I swapped kleenex boxes from the public bathroom. Restaurant buffet is alright, but nothing special. I would stay here again if need be. Hilton Honors members though won't get much love at this place.

  Had a wonderful stay!

  Super nice, clean, great food at the restaurant! We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Friendly and helpful staff also. Very quiet, everything was very clean including hallway carpets. Loved how the parking ramp is attached directly to the building...made for ease of movement with luggage back and forth to the car!

  I was surprised

  We have stayed here before and it was great! The location is very convenient to bars and restaurants, the parking ramp is well lit....none of that has changed. When we checked in, we went to our room and it had the sanitized sticker on the door frame and the door itself. Clean, right?? The sink was full of what looked like tobacco or coffee grounds. I called the front desk and she quickly came up with new room keys for a different room. She looked at the sink and said it was probably due to the drainage issues in this room! OK...why rent it out? She said maintenance fixed it then housekeeping probably had not come back through. But the sticker was on the door. We moved to our new room and went to the bar for before dinner cocktails (fantastic, btw!!). When we came back from dinner, there was a guy passed out in the lobby, spread across the couch and a chair, with his dirty shoes on the furniture! We went to our room and put our leftovers in the fridge. Warm. So we moved it away from the wall, yes it was plugged in. We turned it on and off. Called down to the front desk again and the thing kicked on. We put water in it, no food, and woke to ice blocks in bottles. The ice machine on our floor (7th) did not work, neither did the one above us. My husband went to the 9th floor and that one worked. It used to be a great hotel, but I am not sure anymore.

  Great, clean hotel!

  Very well maintained and clean property in a great location! I understand from the staff that they are getting ready to renovate the guest rooms as well, which will enhance the guest experience that much more. Great location for a convention / business travel.

  Disappointed

  We go to Hilton hotels 99% of the time and typically we find them pretty good but this time unfortunately it was disappointing. The pros were that the staff was very grateful and kind. The cons were that this hotel is so incredibly outdated. We laughed because almost everything in the room was broken, outdated or just in rough shape. We know that not every location will be great but ufta it was rough.
