  Good place for first visit to Kampala

  I stayed here during my first stay ever in Kampala and would recommend this to others too. It's fairly priced, it's gated, the rooms are basic and after a day in the city you can enjoy the outside swimming pool. The food isn't the best (the dishes on the menu are often not available), but then you are just a Boda ride away from many restaurants and bars. The service isn't great, but if you're not looking for anything too fancy and just the basics, tal cottage is the place to stay.

  Budget hotel that needs an uplift

  Well located outside the hustle and bustle of the city so quiet, staff is friendly and helpful, flexible with day room / late chaeck out. The hotel needs renovations, some paint work would be good, coordination among the staff, we had to wait for almost an hour for our breakfast and when it came they still forgot tea / coffee for 3 of us, two of our rooms did not have hot water even after we informed the reception several times, the lady at the reception does everything hence gets overwhelmed and delays in everything. She is also not empowered to make decisions,, we had to wait 30 minutes for our bill. But generally well priced for what you get.

  Happy to return

  Frequently stay at Tal Cottages... budget yes... welcoming yes... friendly staff yes... I would certainly return and recommend it to anyone .. old or young... who don't like the formality of hotel life. Here you can relax and with an added bonus of a well maintained swimming pool. Food although a limited menu.. can be ordered any time. Breakfasts are included with your room.

  DO NOT STAY HERE

  This has got to be the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in my life. I had booked for two of us and my friend couldnt go, they have her a small refund. I booked in on 13th April meant to stay 4 nights. I had to persuade myself to get into the bed and the only reason I was able to do that was because I had just been around the slum areas in Uganda therefore telling myself if they can sleep on the floor I can do this. I was eaten by bed bugs. I got up at 3am. There was no Wi-fi available therefore I was unable to contact my family to tell them I was ok. The mosquito net was ripped, the carpet was filthy with two iron marks on it. The curtains were filthy and falling apart on the windows. There was half a piece of shelf in the bathroom, the shower worked and there was one clean towel. I went for breakfast and had to ask could they make me something so I got a cold omelette and cold roast potatoes. I asked them could I have a banana which they went and bought. The place needs completely renovated. The only good thing about the whole place was the staff. The girl in reception did everything she could to help me get Wi-fi but was unsuccessful and the manager came to help me and I got it for half an hr. And of course the clean towel. I believe I was the only person staying there. I checked out after one night they offered me a better room, why not give me the better room in the first place? I had already made other arrangements by then. The girl in reception was called Zaitun and the manager was Duncan. There was also another girl called Esther who was also very nice. I promise I only ever write the truth. Do not stay here you are wasting your money. I have contacted Expedia and am waiting to see what they are going to do, they are contacting Tal Cottages to ask for a total refund. At the time of leaving the manager said he could not refund me anything. Looking at the place from outside does not convey what it is actually like in the rooms. My advice knock it down and begin again!

  What I can say, they love money more than client, I paid in advance and time to go they refused to refund up to now. I try to call both manage but now one want to pick my phone after staying there longtime.
