  Great location

  Staude there for a visit at the university college. Free parking, complimentary WIFI, complimentary breakfast. Breakfast was simple but good. Room was average regards to standard. Bed was comfortable. Summarized as an ok stay

  Decent hotel with pleasant staff

  Rena not being the biggest of places, the offers a central location. At the time of our visit the hotel was undergoing an upgrade and makeover, so expect it to be quite different after a while. The construction work itself did not affect our stay in any major way. Though I would say the ought to have tidied up the corridor a bit. The rooms themselves are nice, with a single bed and TV. The hotel has got free WiFi all over. The breakfast is somewhat basic, but I expect that to improve after the makeover is done. The staff are very polite and nice.

  Room for improvements

  The hotel is poorly lit from the otherwise well-maintained and lit mainstreet of Rena. The hotel is quite simple, but is was under total renovation when I visited it. I got one of the suites, which was actually only a big bedroom. Nothing fancy. The beds are really good, though. Each room has a kettle with a small selection of coffee and rosehip tea. Breakfast, which for me is the most important thing when sleeping at a hotel, was nothing to brag about. There was not much to choose between and it seemed to be scarce of almost everything. They served for example only one type of eggs, which in my opinion was undercooked. Some of the food seemed as it had been prepared quite a few hours in advance. Apparently no room-service.

  Reception-free weekend

  It appears Trudvang has undergone many changes recently. Last year, I stayed in an old-fashioned room, this year my room was entirely new, including bath, furniture and so on. I got the codes for the entrance door and my room door by SMS, and I was all set. No reception, no dining room, just an empty living room. The reception-free hotel works surprisingly well (for me). However, I tried to get to the 2nd floor (where my room was) by taking the stairs, but the respective door was locked, which I deem even dangerous in case of fire. Other than that, the room was clean and comfy, but not quit. The (only) other guest in this hotel on a Saturday got the room next door (was that necessary?), and his snoring sounds through the wall were just a bit too loud. If you stay here, don't order breakfast. It consists of juice, baguette, and joghurt, that's it. All put inside a paper bag in front of your room door. Remember, there is no dining room. I could've bought a much nicer breakfast in the nearby supermarked the day before.

  Disappointed

  The concept is good and works. Get a code and check in yourself. There is soap, shampoo, towels etc - basics you would expect to find in a hotel. The problem was, the room had pubic hair everywhere on the floor and hair in the sink (picture attached). It is Corona time so you would expect clean rooms, but this was definitely not the case here. But the price is reasonable and services are ok. WiFi ok and breakfast delivered to door in a paper bag (99kr). I would probably stay again but would contact them straight away if room unclean again.
