  Avoid this place

  Visited on 7th June on our first visit to Riva. Just wanted a coffee. We're 'greeted' by a very miserable woman who wouldn't let my husband use the toilet til we ordered the coffees. Her exact words were 'coffee first then toilet'! I ordered a cappuccino and a latte. She then proceeded to say there are many different types of coffee. Really? If he hadn't needed the toilet I would have walked out. There were no other customers. wonder why? Didn't leave a tip, but it would have been get some manners.

  We didnt stay at the hotel but we had lunch on their terrace. The terrace looks good but the service and food is not. The bread for toast and sandwiches was not fresh. The waiters were chaotic and indifferent, did not know where to go with the orders. Not worth the money.

  Conveniently located, no frills but clean and comfortable. excellent breakfast buffet.

  This was my third stay at GV and am pleased to say the recipe remains the same - clean, comfortable and good value with a good location to explore the town. This is a good value hotel for cyclists/sailors who are active during the day and don't particularly need a trouser press or expansive room, just a comfortable mattress and a good shower. Unlike others I have not suffered excessive noise on any stay but it may be dependent on which aspect your room is. I suppose it might also depend on how exhausting your activity is during the day. (If you are sailing out of Torbole then this works perfectly with a gentle 10-15 minute bike ride. I borrowed a bike from elsewhere but I think GV hires bikes.) That said, sound travels on warm continental nights and people stay up later to enjoy the evenings. I don't have a problem with that. Will be returning as usual in two years time for a regular sailing competition and thoroughly hope the breakfast feast remains unchanged. Only slight criticism I would have is the breakfast staff be a little cheerier. They are living in Riva for heavens sake!

  Perfect

  The hotel is very clean. All the staff were very friendly upon arrival right up to the day we left. We didn't include breakfast in our package. But once we saw it we opted to add it on. Perfectly located and right in the centre of the town. Great value for what we were looking for.

  Terrible, dont book!

  When I called reception to change my booking date they were very unprofessional and couldnt refund or change my booking. At the end I was told that on requested dates the whole hotel undergoes reconstruction for one day. Horrible!!!
