    Reception staff A1

The staff on reception were fantastic, welcoming, jovial and accommodating. Sadly, same cannot be said about the lad on reception in the leisure club, totally uncommunicative no hello welcome, these are the rules, would you like a towel? The changing rooms are ..... and even allowed 4 adults in without face masks !!! Rooms was clean, well stocked and restaurant was nice and breakfast good.

    Good hotel, great staff

I stayed in this hotel for a weekend as my family are in lock down so therefore I could not go home. I cant thank the staff enough, they were warm friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. There was Alice on the front desk with Phil and I cant remember other staff names but a nice thank you to housekeeping who couldnt do enough for me. The hotel was clean and pleasant and I never felt worried about catching COVID. See photos of my stay. I hope to return some day.

    Nice hotel, great staff, but....................

I am a regular IHG customer, and use their HI brand a lot. Myself and my partner have stayed here a couple of times on our way North recently. It's in a great location, being just off the M6 at J23, but far enough away from the motorway to be secluded. It's set in it's own large grounds and gardens, approached by a long driveway. There's ample car parking and the staff are very friendly, chatty and helpful. We had a couple of drinks and a few nibbles off their aperatif menu, and although there were only a handful of ther guests in the bar area, it was still a cozy atmosphere and good service. So, why the mediocre score ? Well, once again (and this happens all the time......) despite there being only a couple of dozen rooms in use, we got given the proverbial 'days hike' room at the very end of the longest corridor, on the third floor. What DO you have to do to get an upgrade to a room near to the bar/reception, on the ground floor, in a near empty hotel? What is the mentality that you get sent to the furthest possible room each time? I can understand these rooms being used when the hotel is rammed full, but out of choice in an empty hotel? Can someone from IHG enlighten me?

    Great stay again

Stopped here twice over the past couple of weeks, the hospitality in this Hotel is 1st class, the reception staff were really pleasant and the rooms are just perfect, shame there are no baths, but the showers are good enough! WIFI is fast and its complimentary which is a bonus. Breakfast is cooked perfectly for me and although due to the current climate, not a buffet style, nothing was too much to ask for My hotel of choice in the area

    Not great

We stayed here for a funeral and the room just wasnt clean at all, during a global pandemic you expect it to be spotless but the dust was very thick and on my cup there was dried milk. The food was expensive and average to say the least. There was water in the iron from whoever stayed in that room before. I feel like if you are staying in a room you shouldnt feel like someone else has been in the room before you. We got switched rooms and the second room was better but again not amazing, coffee or some sort of liquid up the wall and on the skirting board that I am sure wasnt stained and could of been wiped.
