  DECENT WITH MAJOR DEFENCENIES !!!

  You don't have many options for hotels in Saranac Lake, and unfortunately, this is the best. BUT IT HAS BIG PROBLEMS !!1..I realize this is a old hotel, but the rooms are TINY !! The bathroom was REDICULOUSLY SMALL !!..The hotel does have free garage parking, which is a blessing in the Winter. BUT it's a LONG walk from your car to the elevator to get to the lobby. Then from the lobby you must go up a set of stairs to get to the SMALL elevator to your rooms !!!.. My advice: STAY IN LAKE PLACID 10 MILES AWAY !!!

  Very nice stay in Saranac, slight noise factor

  My husband and I recently switched from Bonvoy to Hilton and this was our first Hilton stay. We enjoyed it! The location was very nice in a cute town away from the tourist hustle and bustle of Lake Placid. Service was friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean and instituted proper procedures for COVID sanitizing, etc. Our King Deluxe room was just enough room, not too small as many reviews indicated. The decor was really nice and we appreciated free water and breakfast take-away items each day. We did NOT appreciate the door between our room and the neighbors that was extremely thin. We heard all of their conversations and when they woke up, we woke up, etc. Not sure if all rooms have shared doors, but if we stay again we would ask for a room not connected to anyone else.

  Step back in time!

  What a beautiful restored hotel!! Its a mix of modern and old. The room was fantastic, people were friendly and attentive. Love the Great Hall, its where I felt I stepped back in time, from the decor, flooring and some of the old pieces of memorabilia (phone booths) that they left when restoring. Restaurant on premise was terrific, parking garage available (free) and the hotel had so much more!!

  Fantastic

  If you are looking for a hotel that provides service, thorough cleaning and great food this is the hotel for you when coming to Lake Placid. Yes it is a 10-15 min drive to Lake Placid but it is well worth it. When I checked in I met Julie at the Front Desk she was awesome! She makes sure you feel at home and is very welcoming, what a true gem to have. At check out I met another women ( forgot her name) but she was just as friendly even providing a courtesy call after the check out time to ensure all is well. The 2nd floor bartender was amazing and made an awesome dirty martini. Great recommendation to have the fried Brie with bread and She recommended the fried chicken which was very good. The 1st floor bartender Daniel was also awesome he as well made some great drinks and recommended the fried chicken. So guess what I ate. The fried chicken. Lol. It was very good. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night and was unable to cancel my reservation at my other hotel without being charged, otherwise, I would have easily extended my reservation for the rest of my 3 night stay at the Hotel Saranac, Curio. When my travels bring me back to Lake Placid I will definitely stay at this hotel.

  Historic Hotel in Adirondacks

  My husband and I enjoyed our stay here in February 2021 during the pandemic. Great attention to cleanliness and COVID social distancing protocols. There was a free happy hour (2 hours) in the historic bar area on the second floor serving warm mulled wine, hot chocolate, popcorn and sweet treats. The room was small by most Hilton standards, but historic with beautiful crown molding and quality wooden doors. Good wifi, outlet connections for an historic hotel. The bathroom was, again, small but well-appointed with a rain-forest and handheld shower. I loved the quality Ampersand products for my hair. Mini-fridge in room. Walking distance to several cafes and restaurants. As other reviews noted, the elevator is small, but we often walked to the sixth floor. We had a view of the lake from our room. Nice spot and we will return!
