  They are racists!!! If you want a peaceful holiday stay, never go to La Lucia Sands Resort.

  We were greatly disappointed about the treatment we got from the staff and the General Manager. We checked in at 8pm few minutes later the security came complaining about noise while the noise wasnt coming from our room. There was a party downstairs. So everytime the security heard noise he came running to our room. We were asked to vacate the premises the next morning and forfieted our money... the General Manager and the lady from the front desk don't have customer service at all, They were Terribly rude. We were chased out like we are some criminals with police and bouncers escorting us out. This is unfair because even on the note it was clearly stated that there was a party at the apartment downstairs but we were the ones who got kicked out for something we didn't do. Totally poor service from the Resort. We were coming from very far and we were there as a family with 2 children to be ill treated like that. We didnt have anywhere else to go since we didn't even get our money back.The General Manager is very heartless. Our rights were violated. How can our voices be louder than the music from the apartment which the party was hosted from? Where is fairness in all this? We were not even given a chance to explain instead we were attacked. God will deal with you.

  Horrible attitude from Staff

  The girl called Ashley from the front desk has a very horrible stinking attitude and she was very rude towards us, i regret booking that place for a holiday. She doesn't know how to speak to people especially with African guests. First of all i was specific when i made a booking that i want to occupy room 2 and room 4 but when i got there those rooms were occupied already, We had a problem in our apartment, lights were not working in 2 bedrooms and we didn't have hot water, because it was late we told the security guards since the front desk was closed when we checked inn, in the morning we went to the front desk to inform them about the maintenance issues in our apartment, the lady was very rude to us and the other white lady who came to complain when we were at the reception her matter was sorted first before us. i came to realize that whites or Indians are given first preference than Africans. at the end of the day we pay the same amount of money but don't get to be treated the same.

  They say on Check in Air conditioning, WiFi and electricity are extra costs but on check out they say oh no electricity is included despite being written on the deposit receipt you have. They provide nothing. No tea coffee, information on where to get them.

  Excellent location, great stay

  We are timeshare owners at La Lucia Sands and every time we are there we are reminded of how nice the resort is. It is away from the very busy part of the Umhlanga promenade, but close enough if you want to go there for a while. The same applies to the beaches. There is a beach on your doorstep (no lifesavers) and the main beach with lifesavers etc, is 2km away. Shops and amenities are 5 minutes away as well. The units are spacious and have three bedrooms each (no couch space as with a normal timeshare unit). The swimming pool remains a hit, especially if the wind is a bit much for the beach. The new jungle gyms were enjoyed by our children. The tennis court needs a bit of attention though. The resort is in the process of renovating all its units, and are approximately one third of the way there. We stayed in a renovated unit, and the new units are done very well. It is spacious and looks very nice. To round it off, the staff were very friendly and all our queries were promptly attended to.

  Holiday in Umhlanga

  La Lucia sands is located less than 1 km away from the Umhlanga promenade. Great for running. At La Lucia Sands there is a beautiful big pool and private access to beach. Beach in front of La Lucia Sands does not have life guards, swimming beach is located further down beach. Units are well equipped with kitchen utensils, crockey and cutlery. Dishwasher in unit. Beds comfy and 3 bed unit is spacious. Main room has en-suite. Aircon could be serviced.
