  Excellent ski hotel in stunning Gressoney

  We have just spent a wonderful week at this beautiful, traditional alpine hotel, which is very well situated for skiing the Monterosa ski area. The Hotelier, Laura, and all of the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and speak fluent English which we were grateful for as our Italian could be better! The food is excellent, we particularly enjoyed the breakfast which really set us up for the day, and dinner was a four course treat every night with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Our room (106) was compact but more than adequate for our needs, with a newly refurbished bathroom, tv, safe and balcony with mountain view. There is a heated boot/ski room and a hotel shuttle bus that runs every 15mins, morning and late afternoon to the Jolanda lift station, although its also a walkable distance too (and on the flat). The best bar for apres (in our opinion), Castore, is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel next to the church. Its more of a laid back lounge with after-skiing nibbles and chilled out music (note, there is no loud music that can be heard at the hotel). Gressoney is a peaceful resort, the scenery is stunning and its a region extremely proud of their heritage and wonderful local produce. The cheese, wine and honey are all especially delicious. We would not hesitate to stay at the Lo Scoiattolo should we visit Gressoney in the future for either a winter or summer holiday. Thank you to all who made our stay so special.

  Situated in beautiful surroundings

  Hotel Lo Scoiattolo is a nice and clean hotel situated in a stunningly beautiful area with its surrounding mountains. The staff is friendly and smilling. Rooms are a bit too small nevertheless cosy with wooden floors and wood on the walls and even the balconies were of wood. Mattresses a bit hard but rather a bit too hard than too soft. Free WiFi no password required - worked well. The restaurant was very cosy with a nice relaxed atmosphere with an excellent service and excellent food however a bit costly. The breakfast buffet was rich and varied. One downside was that our rooms had to be departed at 10:00 am which was the same hour that the breakfast ended.

  Nice, traditional old Italy style

  The two buildings of the hotel is iconic, classic indeed. The decoration is OK, tidiness of the hotel is good. Location is convenient, you cannot miss it when you enter Tache. The price isn't cheap but is reasonable.

  Best combination of two cultures

  Lo Scoiattolo is in a remote Italian valley, close to the Swiss border. The hotel presents an attractive match of these two cultures. It has the comfort, cleanliness, punctuality and good organisation that one would expect in Switzerland. But on top of this, the hotel has the charm, flexibility and superb cuisine, that Italy is famous for. Great service by the multilingual staff. Reception, shuttle-driver and the restaurant staff worked tirelessly and often anticipated our wishes.

  Fantastic hotel! Great food!

  My husband and I stayed here at the end of February (the week before travel was stopped to Italy) - we were very impressed with the skiing, location and the village. We stayed in a larger room in the annexe which was perfect for our needs. But what made our holiday extra special was the hotels staff - our cleaner kept our room spotless (sorry for our untidiness some days!!), the shuttle bus driver was there for us on time, the receptionists welcomed us all and answered any queries we had with a smile, Simone served us our drinks with a smile and great measures and last but not least - our waitresses were the friendliest and most efficient, we have come across in our travels! Thank you all for your hospitality and I hope your hotel and country recover from this terrible pandemic. Wishing you all good health xx
