    Excellent hotel

We had a wonderful stay at this authentic hotel. Very friendly people, a good breakfast, nice room and a cool vibe. Nicely situated at the harbor, easy to take the carferry to Torri. A good place to rent a boat nearby... We would certainly like to come back

    Charming hotel with perfect location

I recently had the opportunity to stay here for four days while on business, and I came away with good memories and no doubt that I could recommend this hotel for anyone staying at a hotel in Toscolano Maderno. First off, let me just say the location of the hotel is absolutely perfect regardless if you want to go out sightseeing, go to the beach or just stay at the hotel compound and enjoy the pool! It cannot be overstated how great it is situated. The hotel itself looks the part as it is a gorgeous 1920's Italian villa that has been made in to a hotel and been so for the last forty-fifty years I believe. The reception area is rather small, and not always manned, which has to be one of the few "negatives" in my review. But, if you get a room with a view across the lake and especially the terrace, you can enjoy yourself by overlooking the lake front and the beautiful road going from Gardone Riviera to Toscolano Maderno. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was even if it was "right in the city center". Check in went rather smoothly, and the room itself was in good condition. Great water pressure (not exactly a given in an Italian hotel room) in the shower is a definite plus, and for being an "old" hotel, I found the room to be clean, well taken care of and certainly being able to call itself a four star hotel. The refridgerator was another matter as it didn't work in my room, but I was too busy to care while I stayed there. Beautiful hotel garden with lovely pool and good amount of sunchairs. An extra touch was the possibility of being served while laying by the pool which I thought was a decent touch to this classy place. The parking amenities were good as you park in the back of the garden while driving in a gate that is only opened by the hotel key cards. All in all, a very good hotel experience, and I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking to enjoy relaxing days in the middle of Lake Garda in one of its most idyllic locations (the peninsula with its long beach/walkway is one of the best around the lake). TOP TIP: Nearby you will find several gems as far as food goes. Use TripAdvisor, you can't really miss them and they are practically right at your doorstep! Until next time, Hotel Milano! Thanks for a great stay!

    Great view of the lake

Charming hotel with a swimming pool which my son really loved! There were always available sunbeds and towel which you can borrow. The room was clean with okay size. Shower was a bit small, though it is not the smallest I have seen in Italy. The view over the lake from our room was fantastic and I would really recommend to go for a room with a view. Check-in was fast and professional. Nothing more, nothing less. There's a private parking space inside the hotel compound which was really convenient. Be aware though that it is not for free! Lastly, I would like to mention the live music by the hotel pool on some of the nights we were there! We really enjoyed it and gave a really relaxing atmosphere.

We recently stayed here for 4 nights - good location, nice pool and majority of the hotel staff are nice apart from the managers/ receptionists! When leaving the hotel we wanted to pay on card yet it would be better for them if we were to pay cash (I have never had this in a check out of a hotel). Our taxi for the airport was leaving in 5 minutes waiting, and yet they wanted us to walk to a cash point to pay hundreds of euros as it suited them better.. Clearly do not care about customers, often rude and not even at reception having to wait over 10 mins to check out! Beds are hard and pillows are even worse - there was no main light in our room so at night all we had was the bathroom light and bedside table small light. Breakfast is average at best. One night the air con did not work at all and so it was very uncomfortable in the heat. When we tell the manager - we realised they control the aircon and as it was a cooler day he had clearly turned it down/ off!!! I have been to many 4* hotels and I do not think this hotel deserves it at all.

Great location but let down by staff

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Ill start with the positives: The location on the lake is excellent and the pool area is really nice. There is also ample parking available (for a 5 charge per day) However, the hotel is let down by the 2 rude men that man the reception desk. They also ask for payment in cash and the value of our stay was beyond the limit Expedia state you can pay in cash in Italy. Additionally, even though there are air conditioning panels in the room, they are just for show. The weak air con is centrally controlled and only switched on between 4pm and 7am so the room is boiling when you wake up. The rooms are small but feel recently refurbished. The bathrooms are clean but in need of upgrading. The breakfast is acceptable.

    Beautiful location and pleasant stay

We stayed in room 204 and had a balcony, the view was beautiful, the pool left and mountains right with the lake straight ahead. Our beds were made every day and clean towels provided every day and toiletries. The room was quiet and had free Wifi in and around by the pool. The pool area was relaxing and towels provided for free. Dont expect a full english breakfast but delicious mini crossants, fresh bread, eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit, honey, cheese, ham, enough to set you up for the day. Dinner we had salad or soup and a choice of pasta, meat, fish, 1 veg and chips or roasted potatoes and 3 desserts, fruit and 3 flavour ice creams. We got the train outside 3 times, once for the evening tour, to go to the Museum and the market. The information kiosk is outside go right out of the hotel, Conrad supermarket towards the right and boat tours right outside. If you walk left you can get the car ferry to Torri every half hour. The bus stop is on the main road left opposite the tabaco shop to Garda and north. We went to Gardaland 1 day which was a long trip but we had a great day. The boat tour to Islona del garda is worth a visit if you like history. Ice cream cafe opposite hotel. You can swim in the lake on the free beach left. All in all the perfect holiday. Staff are friendly if you are friendly to them. Would love to return.

    Awesome hotel!!

What a fantastic hotel and location!!. Having read previous reviews before going, my wife and I were hesitant about what we would find or expect from this hotel, with the staff and food. Once we got there, our doubts were soon washed away with the outstanding location of the hotel. The staff were friendly and food was pretty good too!. Our room was big and clean, and included a balcony looking over the front of the hotel; 2nd floor. Our view of the lake and mountains was mind-blowing. A great view to look out onto anytime of the day. Watching the passers by and boats coming in to shore was also a great pass time, whilst nibbling on snacks and a few drinks late afternoon/early evening before getting ready for the evening ahead. Whilst not knowing a great deal of Italian before I went, I decided to downloaded some basic Italian and set about talking to the staff and owners after a quick look. Certainly helped and it's worth doing...making an effort certainly helps with the locals and made for a pleasant stay. This also came in handy when visiting places on the lake and restaurants etc... The food was pretty good at the hotel despite poor reviews previously. It does depend on what you go for to be fair. Vegetables aren't a strong point but the goulash was great, pasta and salads a plenty, nice lake trout too which was tasty and of course chips . Just a few to name but you get the idea. Desserts were amazing also!; cakes, ice-cream and fruit. I could have lived on those all week alone!. Nearly did mind!! ...having returned home now I'm nearly half a stone heavier! ...bugger!! The pool was amazing and much needed after a long day out, or whether you just wanted a day to chill out and relax. The sunbeds were comfy too. When we were there it was around 38-40' most days, so a mixture of getting cooked by the sun in the gardens or under a tree for some much needed shade was welcomed!. My advice is just go with the flow. Each to their own of course and I appreciate we all have our own views and expectations of how it should be. Don't expect too much from the off and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly that changes...for the better. I love this place and will look forward to coming back .
