  Sleepless nights

  The hotel is slightly run down and in need of refurbishment. Pretty average. Friendly staff. The hotel is located about 50 metres from the railway track and trains run all night using their klaxons every few seconds. It is impossible to get any sleep if you have a front or side facing room. For this reason I would not use this hotel again.

  typical Chinese Hotel

  We spent a couple of nights in Nanning on our way from Hong Kong to Hanoi. The Jindu had a good price and was rated high by elong, so we went there. From the airport it is 100rmb fare to the Jindu. Check in was ok, and a little English is spoken. They need either cash or a creditcard for deposit. Credit card proved to be a little problem on check out, so use cash! The key didn't work for our first room, so got another room - this time requested non smoking which we had forgotten the first time. Room was on a quite high floor, with good views if it had been daytime. Beds comfortable and bathroom fine. Basically typical for this type of hotel - calls itself a 4 star but really closer to 3 star. Was a restaurant downstairs, but never open when we went there. There are places to eat nearby, and the town centre is a short taxi ride away so not a problem. Free internet connection in room, and quite fast. Downstairs in the hotel lobby is a travel agent. Will book train tickets, and booked us on a tour to the Detain waterfalls (220rmb a person). Probably overcharged for this, and if going again I'd try to use a private car (less shopping stops!). The hotel is fine for the price we paid. Nearer the train station (and departure point for tour buses to Detian) is the 'High Class Hotel' -but not sure how high class it is!
