    Disappointing price hikes

    Booked a stay here pre-Covid. Agreed to rebook when the pandemic meant the hotel had to close as weve been for several years and like to support the hotel. Now Ive received an email a month before (without apology) telling me the cost for one night has doubled in price to over £600 for dinner I dont want, a butler service I dont need, hand sanitiser, and a breakfast they had the cheek to call complimentary. One might speculate that is largely because they have reduced capacity and want to shift out guests who booked on a cheaper rate to make way for those willing to pay the ridiculous new rate. Stapleford Park wont honour the price I booked and rebooked for, nor would they entertain moving our booking to a different date at the original rate. Incredibly disappointing and a poor show of loyalty to guests. From 5* reviews (Ive previously given) to 1*, maybe someone in senior management should question this strategy?

    A fabulous stay in every way!

    We stayed this weekend in the Lady Jane Churchill room. Everything was brilliantly handled by the team and everyone was kind, friendly and great fun. We can both certainly say that the afternoon tea, the dinner and the breakfast were amazing with a very varied and interesting dinner menu. Seriously magnificent in the lovely dining room (and garden for the afternoon tea!). Thanks everyone and this is the country hotel to beat, see you again soon.

    Hotel cancelled us last minute

    I had originally booked a trip to Stapleford Park in May for my birthday, which would have been our second visit. This was arranged through a third party website. Due to Covid this was postponed and I was told I couldn't have a refund but I could book for later in the year. We decided to go for my husbands birthday instead in October. This week (months later) the hotel has emailed me to cancel this reservation, less than 2 weeks before the event, after sitting on our money throughout this time. They said this was due to social distancing, and initially I accepted this. However, they emailed me to confirm that the booking had been cancelled with a link to available room and I can see they are advertising rooms on the website for the same weekend/night, but at a higher rate than the package we purchased. Clearly they are not being honest with customers about why they are cancelling. Clearly Stapleford Hall do not want to honour bookings customer made in good faith, and are trying to hold out for higher paying customers - even though our booking was made months ago. I can understand that they want to maximise the value of their rooms but they are disingenuous in the reasons they give. They sent me a generic "sorry your plans have changed" email after I agreed to a refund, this is an insult - NO Stapleford Park, my plans haven't changed - you have decided you don't want to honour this booking, because you feel we haven't paid enough. Why didn't you just refund us before? They have not replied to my follow up email asking when I can expect the refund. Now we have to change plans regarding childcare, re-arrange our trip, book other accommodation for my husbands birthday. I wish they had just given me a refund in the first place - but it suited them to keep our money until they could fill the rooms with higher paying customers. Very disappointed, we had a lovely stay last time and were really looking forward to visiting again. It's unlikely we will be back.

    Fantastic & Relaxing

    Stayed for a one night stay with dinner, breakfast & afternoon tea. We booked in September, after they had reopened again. We had a fabulous room, having upgraded. From the moment we arrived we were treated very well, very friendly customer focussed staff. On arrival we had booked to use the pool, which had to ourselves due to Covid restrictions. The pool is a good size and lovely. Dinner was 3 courses of locally sourced, beautifully presented dishes. We can recommend the cheese board which was excellent. After a quiet night (didn't hear a pin drop!) we had breakfast, again wonderful food choice. Everything is extremely Covid secure, we were very impressed with the hygiene standards, cutlery air packed and the packs cut open in front of you, servers with gloves and face shields etc. After a lovely walk around the grounds we came back in for afternoon tea, which was delicious. We were sad to leave! All in all a great stay. We will be back!

    Still awaiting refund...

    The hotel cancelled my booking at the end of October because they were no longer accepting promotional bookings (I booked via Secret Escapes in February) They didnt even offer to rebook me onto their standard room rate despite still having plenty of rooms available on their website. The receptionist informed me that they had made many similar cancellations so it may take a couple of weeks for the money to land in my account. It is now mid-December and I am still awaiting my refund? I emailed the hotel and they informed me their finance team have been furloughed so my refund cannot be processed at this time. They clearly have a long list of refunds to process so why have they been furloughed? I understand the hospitality industry is struggling but Stapleford Park are managing this situation very poorly. I would like my money returned please.
