Lovely stayWe had 4 nights here exploring the surrounding area. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were lovely and we felt very safe. The highlight was the food which was all delicious. We chose different things each evening and they were all well cooked and using local ingredients.

LIVED UP TO EXPECTATIONSBeen here a few years ago and loved the experience and the location. Covid safety measures were in place and people were following them. It was a busy lunch service on a Thursday but the staff were helpful. They checked the contents of the salad dressing did not compromise my food intolerances. The meal was excellent and filling. I had the ham and my husband had the whopping piece of fish. Both of us were pleased and sated!

Nice place ruined by rude manager and poor sound insulationWife and I were looking forward to a 3 night stay in the Cotswolds. We chose the 4 star Colesbourne Inn with their best room due to location, decent reviews and great photos. Exactly what we wanted to relax. Hotel/pub and were great with a ye olde feel. The room itself was good quality, clean and spacious with a patio area, however it wasn't the room we actually paid for which was supposed to have a free standing bath - although we didn't complain. Because the building is old (but not run down, it's a very nice building) there is poor sound insulation throughout so if you're concerned about hearing slamming doors, loud footsteps above or others' snoring, this isn't for you. There are actually notices in the room warning about noise and for guests to be respectful of others. Had we have known this we wouldn't have stayed.Again, this wasn't a massive problem for us though as we both had ear plugs. We had breakfast in the hotel 3 mornings and lunch once and the food was excellent, especially the breakfast. The women who work there are all friendly. Massive problem is with the male manager. Possibly the most arrogant person I've ever encountered in a hotel. On arrival we both got a bad vibe from him. Standoffish at best, rude at worst. On the third morning we went to breakfast as usual ( socially distancing with masks on of course) to our designated numbered table which was in the same location the two previous mornings. On this morning it had been changed to a different location, which we didn't know about, so accidentally went to our original table. His exacts words were, before we said anything, "you'll wait there to be seated like everyone else" in the most condescending rude voice ever. I explained that our table was there the last 2 days and in the same manner he said "not when it's busy it's not". Wife was upset and I was angry. Definitely ruined an otherwise enjoyable trip. He was also rude on departure, not just to my wife, but his own wife when there was an issue with the bill. When we got home we checked other reviews on here and a lot of others have had similar experiences with this thoroughly unpleasant character. It's a real shame because the hotel, other staff, and the area are fantastic.
