    hotel is mediocre, not as nice as it seems at first glance

    I've stayed here a couple times and it's what we call in Michigan "janky". It appears stylish and nice at first glance, but the longer you look, the more problems you see. BUT it's not unsafe or horrible, unless you're a hotel-snob. The rooms aren't quite clean or fully functional. There are no fans in the bathroom and not much airflow in the room, so when 4 people stay in a room and *ahem* fully use the bathroom, it can get quite stinky. There's typically damage to the furniture, paint splatters, toilet paper holder rusted and falling out of the wall, etc. Some of the lobby furniture is ripped and needs replacement. The pool is usually clean, but not the area around the pool: the little gutter is slippery with mildew, the floors don't seem to be cleaned regularly or thoroughly (although people who wear their street shoes in the pool area are partly to blame), etc. There are only 2 ice machines, on the 2nd and 7th floors, which is pretty inconvenient. The front desk staff is very friendly. The HUGE hot tub is awesome. The breakfast is delicious ($10). Parking is always a breeze. The beds are comfortable (if you like firm mattresses). $140/night is pretty high for how much work the hotel needs. $80/night seems like a more reasonable price for this hotel.

    Excellent staff!

    Sydney, Sonya and the general manager were great! Super friendly and very outgoing! The beds were very comfortable, pillow top! Took advantage of the shuttle to downtown Grand Rapids. Always on time and nice and clean!

    Better than expected

    We stayed at this hotel and Super Bowl Sunday night wanted to get away. Hotel rooms have been updated with new linens new bedding the lobby area looks pleasant pool very nice furniture in the pool area very nice hot tub not working due to Covid. Carpets in hallways needed a good vacuum saw a plunger in the hallway of one of the rooms outside someones door bathrooms are not 100% but they were clean. All in all for the price I paid perfectly happy!

    Hotel experience

    We had a nice view of the river despite it being froze, it was nice seeing the lights and even cars drive along the road. The room wasn't too bad either, maybe a little dirty where the ice holder is but could get another one. Quiet for the most part and the workers were friendly as well.

    Winter break with my Broke best friend(college aged daughter)

    We stayed one night after shopping at Woodland mall. The receptionist was very friendly and efficient. She was engaging and delightful. The room was vey clean and well appointed. It was very comfortable for us both. I will stay here again when in the area.
