    A Most Special Stay

So blessed to stay at Villa Flowers! It was my understanding that I had booked a pansion that I had seen when visiting the previous year yet there I was at VIlla Flowers. My concerns were eased when I walked into a brand new pristine room and opened the curtains...looking straight at the lights on Apparition Hill! The room was spacious and bright even at that midnight hour with a spotless beautiful bathroom. When the winter darkness gave way to morning light I found myself in the most serene surroundings one could imagine...the middle of a vineyard. At the delicious breakfast laid out I was greeted by the kind and gracious host Niko and hostess Jelena making me feel instantly welcome. A beautiful short walk through the vineyard brought me right to the center of Medjugorje. I was booked into another pansion for the second half of my pilgrimage but cancelled and returned home to VIlla Flowers. I could not imagine returning to Medjugorje without staying at VIlla Flowers for another amazing experience.

Wonderful Peaceful Stay in a Private Palace

When I came down from my room here I really felt like I was staying in an exclusive palace, it's a lovely environment and the villa is designed with wide open terraces at the end of the floor from which you can see Apparition Hill lit up at night and in the early morning. I came for a brief two night stay and it was the perfect base for me, only a short walk into town and to Apparition Hill. I actually arrived late on the bus and Nico kindly picked me up from the bus station (and very kindly paid for my coffee and cake as I had no small change). I felt so at home here I jumped in the shower and was asleep probably fifteen minutes later (in the morning I realised I had locked the door without closing it properly so I'd slept all night with an open door, but it was so quiet and safe here I didn't even check it!) I was so tired I forget to tell Nico about special dietary requirements (I'm doing my best to be vegan) and so Elena did a great job of rejigging breakfast (her mother's jam is amazing) for me and I took the melted cheese sandwiches with me on both days (and ended being very grateful for them as it can be hard to find even vegetarian options in Croatia). This was the best heating and hot shower I'd experienced on this trip in Croatia (other showers were hot but ran out so I couldn't stay as long as I wanted and I had to play around a lot with other heating) - I had the best sleep here, also thanks to a light but adequate duvet. And it was soooo quiet. The only downside for me is that the double bed was two singles pushed together with a little gap in between and I do like a double bed - but I slept very well. Also I think something was lost in translation on the booking.com website as my room didn't have an individual balcony but there was a terrace at the end of the corridor which was lovely. Nico dropped me off at the bus station and I really do appreciate their wonderful hospitality - I also think this would be a great place for a big group as the downstairs breakfast area is so welcoming - great for getting together.

    Bare, Simple and Quiet

We have just returned from a trip to Medjugorje. We stayed at Villa Flowers for 5 nights on a half board basis. Our Impressions of our room was that it looked clean, as all the furniture and fittings were coated in white plastic, but it was bare. There were no room amenities. The room did not have a telephone, television, radio or bedside clock. Drinking water was not provided even though it is a necessity in such a hot country. There was only a liquid soap dispenser in the shower room. The room was not cleaned nor was the bed linen changed during our entire 5 nights stay. On the second day, I asked if we could have fresh towels and the bathroom mopped. The owner, Niko told me quite categorically that we were not staying in a hotel and he was not charging hotel prices. Therefore, we should not expect any such amenities! On a positive note, Jelena who does most of the catering was very friendly. Even though she did not speak much English, she did strive to provide delicious, varied, plentiful 3 course meals every night. Her soups were particularly good. The 'hotel' itself is situated In a quiet field and within walking distance of the shops, Church and Apparation Hill. There is a very relaxed, unhurried atmosphere around and nothing is monitored. There are cookies and fruit on the reception desk for 24 hours consumption. We will probably not return to Medjugorje because we found the commercialisation a bit too pronounced for us.

    Friendly place

I m Rajithangani from Sri Lanka. When I went from Sarajevo airport to the hotel, Niko has sent me sms asking my checking time and waited for me. Villa flowers owner couple Niko and Jelena very kind and nice people. They warmly welcomed me. If I tell you the truth I didn't feel I m out of my home. There are enough drinks, food, tea, coffee biscuits, cakes, fruits etc. So Jelena told me you can eat and drink at any time. Breakfast was awesome and sooo many varieties. I even had dinner there because I loved their delecious food. Everyday they offered nice wine too. This is a nice new hotel which can see the white cross and mountains, vineyards, orchards etc. Very calm and pleasant place. Not only that all the important places are close by. 7 minutes walk to St. James church. I recomend villa flowers to people who like the place like second home. Thank you very much Jelena and Nikola for making my stay very pleasant. Rajithangani

    Wonderful stay at Villa Flowers

Our family of 4 booked two rooms for 6 nights and enjoyed every moment of our stay with Niko and his lovely wife. The hotel is small, which is what we were looking for, and the rooms were perfect with beautiful views over the fields, hot showers and cold a/c (sometimes hard to come by in Medjugorje!). The hotel is located in a perfect location virtually in the middle of the fields with equal distance walks to Apparition Hill, St. James and Cross Mountain. While we did not have a balcony in our room, there are large balconies on each floor with chairs offering wonderful views of Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain. We were served a huge breakfast each morning in the sunny dining room and enjoyed each one. Overall I can't say enough good things about this pansion and it's delightful and attentive hosts!! Thank you Niko and we look forward to a return visit soon.
