  Great Apartment - Great Location

  Recently stayed in penthouse apartment on 3rd floor at Whales Bay Apartments. Amazing ocean views from our balcony - modern clean apartment with great pool, and other facilities. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would definitely recommend this place to others

  I Hate to remark BUT they deserve the stars IF they promise me a room in future when then are over-booked ;)

  IF you are an experienced traveler AND want to cook for yourself with local foods AND understand not to make noise or abuse the terrific staff or the local families... then this is a wonderful and restful lodging. If you are coming to party stay away please!   Fantastic apartment

  We stayed 9 nights at Whales Bay, in one of the penthouse apartments. It was all mod cons, fabulous views of the Atlantic, very clean and quiet. The Capelas natural pools just down the road were a great place to swim and in August, for good swimmers, you could swim in the sea from the ramp next to the natural pools. You do need a car here and I would strongly recommend that you hire the smallest one possible as the roads are quite narrow and windy. The drive from PD is around 20-25 mins. The staff at Whales Bay absolutely deserve a mention as they were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble: Bibiana and the man (sorry I didn't get his name) were just excellent. I couldn't recommend this place more if you want to get away from it all and have a good base to explore the Azores.

  Awesome hotel

  This hotel is awesome. From the minute you pull up to the gated property, it is completely breathtaking. There were so many amenities, Im just so mad we didnt have enough time to actually use them all. The rooms are huge and spacious and the beds are pretty comfy for Europe. The bathroom was the size of our other two hotel bathrooms on our trip, combined. My only two complaints are that the property isnt staffed 24 hours, we had to check out with no one there. And that the person staying above us was smoking and roasting garlic, and our entire suite smelled like that as well, so I guess theres poor ventilation. And there is nothing nearby within walking distance. But other than those minor issues, a beautiful resort with a great staff!

  Superb hotel

  When looking for an appartment hotel, this one seemed to be a really good choice and indeed it was! Just 15 min from Ponta Delgada. The staff was super friendly, had a lot to recommend on activities to spend on the island. Also they wanted a feedback after every cleaning (2x a week). The 2nd and 3rd floor appartment's had ocean view. The ocean side here is splendid, much nicer than the south side of the island. The kitchen was a real pleasure to use, everything modern and of a good quality. You really had al you need to cook. Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and sauna were okay, beautiful poll outside (salted, but really nice). All in all a strongly recommended hotel, we had a wonderful stay here.

  Apartamento con vistas al mar

  Estuvimos en julio 4, 2 adultos y 2 niñas en el apartamento del piso superior y con vistas al mar. El apartamento es muy grande y está muy limpio. Tiene 2 cuartos y 2 cuartos de baño, están bien y muy limpios. También tiene un salón con cocina muy amplio con unas vistas preciosas al mar. La cocina viene casi equipada para preparar comidas: las sartenes estaban mal, estaban abombadas. Echamos de menos algo de bienvenida: fruta o un bombón y que la cocina tuviera algunas de las cosas imprescindibles: aceite, sal, cacao, café o té. Para estancias de vacaciones, de unos días, no merece la pena comprar las cantidades habituales y sería un detalle que lo tuvieran en monodosis. El nombre puede dar lugar a confusión, es más apartamento que hotel. No tiene los servicios propios de un hotel.

  Excelente.Volvería sin dudarlo

  Excelentes apartamentos. Bien ubicados. Vistas maravillosas sobre el mar. Una espaciosa área de piscina y jardín. Limpieza fabulosa. Te facilitan las cosas indispensables de limpieza y aseo para esos días. La cocina está totalmente equipada, la mejor que he encontrado hasta ahora.El personal super atento y muy amable ante cualquier duda .Los apartamentos son muy espaciosos. Sin duda volvería.

  Loved the views and location

  There were so many good things about Whales Bay. We stayed in a 2 BR, 2 bath penthouse apartment with a full kitchen and wrap around balcony with an amazing view of the ocean. The pool and grounds were lovely and the staff went above and beyond in making recommendations on what to see and where to eat. However, of the 4 pieces of gym equipment, 2 were broken. The jacuzzi was not in service. Within the apartment, the couch fabric was peeling off and hot water was sporadic. Several times we had to heat up water in the kitchen and pour it into the bathtub in order to take a bath. I appreciate that they are using solar panels to heat the water but there needs to be a backup system (I had to take a cold shower the morning we left.) The location was about 20 minutes from the action of Ponta Delgada and within an hour of all the beautiful sights of Sao Miguel. Even though Whales Bay could use some updating, I would stay there again.

  Excelente apartamento para visitar Sao Miguel

  Estuvimos en el mes de Abril y fue el lugar perfecto para iniciar excursiones y descansar a la vuelta. Nuestro apartamento tenía dos habitaciones y baño y amplio espacio de cocina y salón con vistas al mar. Complemento perfecto para un día de caminata es su spa.
