  In the heart of Meissen

  Great hotel, so convenient for sight-seeing, comfortable, clean, nicely decorated rooms with friendly staff and a great breakfast. We were on on Elba Cycle tour so it was important for us to have a secure lock-up for our bikes - this was a street away but we were personally escorted there by a staff member. It was great to have a bike-friendly hotel in such a great location. Note: they have the most amazing cellars...

  Great location, but......

  Stayed one night while on the Elbe bike tour. Location is great as it's close to the bike route, and just off the central square. Rooms are really nice BUT really small. Staff were nice and friendly, very helpful so no complaints there. Most things are good about this hotel if you can handle the small rooms. The current issue though, and it's worth remembering is that the church directly opposite, like eight metres away is under renovation. So at 7:30 SHARP the power tools started. They were also on the go from the minute we arrived the first day. This made us want......need to get out of the hotel as we simply couldn't stay in the room with the noise! As all rooms are on that side of the building there's no escaping. And it looks like a long term project going on!

  Good but with minor faults

  Our motoring tour achieved a hat-trick of arrivals when road works and diversions hindered our arrival at this hotel, which is located on a corner just off a picturesque square in the Old Town. The driver was not best pleased to be told that parking was free but a 7-minute walk away uphill on very uneven cobbled streets! Our room, however, was a very large corner one, beautifully decorated and with a large, comfortable bed. The bathroom was large and well-appointed bathroom but it lacked a walk-in shower, which we regard as essential as we are beyond the age of climbing in and out of slippery baths. Staff were friendly and helpful in suggesting good restaurants for dinner. Breakfast was a high quality German buffet served in the adjacent café.

  comfortable hotel in city centre

  We stayed here one night for a weekend in Meissen. Rooms were nice, large and spacious, well equipped. The beds were good. The hotel is in the city centre, right next to the Frauenkirche. The latter will ring bells every 15 minutes, which sound very nice and cosy, but if this disturbs you, that might be a problem. The breakfast buffet was very good with ample choice.We arrived a little after 6 PM and thus had to call another hotel to obtain our key, as the reception is not occupied after 6 PM. This was a bit odd.

  Nice, great location but noisy

  We stayed here on our Elbe river cycle trip. Great rooms, friendly staff but the church bells are a bit of a nuisance - especially a prolonged session at 7 am. Early morning delivery trucks with air conditioning units running full blast sounded coming into the market square were bad also. Good breakfast and good storage for bicycles.
