  Friendly and Flexible

  A 10-15min walk from the bus/train station we checked in quite late but easily. Room was upstairs, which is difficult with a couple of large suitcases, but was clean family size. Staff recommended we had dinner next door, which was a very good idea too, as it was too late to walk to town our first night there. The breakfast area was too small for the number of guests, even with a couple of extra tables positioned outside, but selection was enough and they would cook fresh eggs when asked.

  Do not stay in rooms 110 or 111 as they are not fit for purpose.

  The hotel is in a reasonable location within walking distance of the town and bus and train stations. We were staying as part of a large group which took over half of the rooms. We were allocated Room 111 which must have been the worst room in the Hotel. The only way to get into the double bed was to crawl in from the bottom. I asked if we could move and the receptionist showed us Room 110 which must have been the next worst room. We moved to that room as there was no alternative. In Room 110 only one of us had to crawl up from the bottom to get into bed! I had a small bedside table. There was a TV in the room but we could only watch it if we sat at the end of the bed and looked sideways. There were two chairs in the room but they were hanging on hooks. Suitcases had to stay on the floor as there was nowhere else. You could not swing a cat in the shower room and there was nowhere to put shower gel/shampoo in the shower cubicle. Breakfast was laid out in the cellar. The ham and cheese were rubbery and processed but the eggs were fine. There was some whole fruit available but no fruit salad. Croissants were minute and ran out early. There was no room for the staff member to get round to clear the plates but if she tried she put them in a red washing up bowl! I would not recommend this hotel at all but some of our friends had much better rooms so their experience was better.

  Room 101 - Orwellian Accuracy

  We arrived on 26th July in the afternoon. It was 34 degrees Celsius. We checked-in and paid, and were then given room 101. The room did not even slightly resemble *any* of the photos we referred to when booking, and was, in effect, uninhabitable The mobile air-conditioning unit did not seem good enough for the weather and was very noisy. * The ground floor window looked right onto the courtyard meaning that we would have had no privacy, and no security with the window open overnight. In short, you *could not* sleep in Room 101, with the choice of either a very noisy, ineffectual air-conditioning unit, or, zero privacy & security. We stayed in the room for 15 minutes, then asked reception to move us to another room. They were unable to do this, so we requested a refund. They were not able to authorise a refund, so we left. We had to find another hotel for that night. Avoid / STMFD

  No estuvimos a gusto

  La habitación que nos tocó, la 111, era minúscula. No podíamos movernos en su interior, literalmente. Pedimos que nos cambiaran y nos dijeron que todas eran similares. Sentimos claustrofobia las dos noches que estuvimos alojados alli. La ubicacion esta muy bien, a 10 min caminando del centro, y el desayuno correcto. Pero no volveria a alojarme alli de ninguna manera.

  Budget hotel with good location and great staff!

  Together with my wife and daughter. i spent 7 nights at Asteria Hotel. Hotel is well located, just 5-10 minutes walk from Ljubljana central station (buses and trains) and 15 minutes walk from the centre. As mentioned.in other reviews there is a restaurant just next door and also a supermarket some 150 metres away. Regarding the hotel, no frills but extremely clean, nothing to say in regard. Our triple room was large and also the bathroom was of a good size. Hotel staff, Sasha, Laetizia and Vesna were very helpfull and also ready to assist in your needs with a smile in all our stay. For sure, once back to Ljubljana Hotel Asteria will be our choise again! Michael Malta
