    Worst Japanese Hotel Experience

    We arrived today to be pleasantly surprised - the hotel looked a lot nicer than I'd expected. The staff didn't really speak English, but nothing out of the ordinary for Japan. Upon asking about wifi, I was told it was only for Japanese citizens. Luckily enough, I understood the context behind this. The hotel only offers (very limited) Softbank internet access. This is a service which is bundled with Japanese cellular plans. Not available for foreigners to access. The room does, however, have LAN. Not much use to me as my laptop doesn't have Ethernet. Usually older Japanese hotels have mini routers inside pencil cases where they don't have wifi infrastructure. I had to go and buy one. Anyway, the bigger problem. It's currently 1:28AM and I can't sleep. There is NO AIR CONDITIONING AT THIS HOTEL. There is "moderate heat or cool". The hotel decides which mode to put their system in - hot or cool. It's currently set to hot, so our "ventilation" is off. As none of the staff speak English, I have tried asking for a fan numerous times - without any success. By far my worst Japanese Hotel Experience. Would never come back.

    Perfect Location!

    This hotel is located very near the shopping area (Hondonri) and also really near the A-bomb Dome and memorial. All within walking distance. You may access this place by bus/tram. There's a tram station just in front of the hotel. It's along the main road, just beside the HUGE SOGO departmental store (where there's a new pokemon store on the 6th floor). Do note that the store closes rather early at 8pm, IIRC. Location was ideal for me as it's just walking distance from my long-distance bus stop (Willer Express). (5-8mins walk!) Room is rather big but dim. We initially thought a light bulb has blown and even ask the staff to come up to check. There's no air-con (which we thought was quite weird) but the windows can be opened so we opened a small gap to allow air circulation in the room. It even has a 2 seater sofa in the room where we can chill in front of the tv. All was good and it was a reasonable pricing as well (booked through Japanican). Pros: - Excellent location (in front of tram station and near Willer Express Bus stop, also near shopping street and Peace dome area) - Huge room - Free wifi which works fine - Comfortable rest Cons: - Room a bit dim - Aircon doesn't work (maybe cause it's autumn?, but we opened the windows so it was ok) - International CC accepted for payment.

    Top location

    This place is on top location but everything else is average. The rooms are too small and without basic staff. Staff is very polite and nice. Breakfast is my number one thing at this hotel. They have delicious food. Will be back.

    Location best part of stay

    Stayed here for 6 nights with a sporting group. We had double rooms that were small but clean. rooms were showing signs of wear & tear and could use a freshen up. Most days we had breakfast on 17th floor which was buffet style with a choice of western & Asian foods. Close to Peace park, shopping malls & transport. Pleasant staff.

    Sauna Rooms

    We ended up staying at this hotel for 2 nights due to the location in relation to the sites. We checked in and were a bit surprised at the accommodations but for the price, it was on par. However when we tried to use the air conditioning due to the room being excessively hot it would not work. Upon calling the front desk we were informed that we should open our window as they do not allow A/C during this time of the year. This would typically be okay if the hotel were located on a quiet street, however it is not. The street it is located on is not quiet. Overall, this was not worth the money. I would not stay here again.
