  Self service with no wheelchair access.

  We booked this stay through booking.com as it stated wheelchair access on ground floor self contained unit. Problem number one, steps up into garden leading to ramp. Doorbell worked but wasn't answered as the owner said they couldn't hear it in the house! The wheelchair would not have passed through the doors if it had made it up the steps anyway. Owner said she wasn't aware we requested an accessible room and changed the tiny room with tiny shower room (but huge step into it) for a bigger room. Although this room could be accessed through the main building we were advised to use the courtyard entrance as there was a path around the side. But this was not wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and had nettles etc overgrown partly obstructing it. We were supposed to stay for a week but checked out after 3 nights for the following reasons. Toilet would not flush. Room was not serviced when we returned at 5.00 pm. Gravel car park unsuitable for wheelchairs. My wife had to walk holding onto the building along the path and scraped her arm on the gate handle. Lovely pub opposite was only accessible by crossing a busy road but was very much appreciated as I needed the use of their toilet! As ours was not fixed after reporting it as well as the other things that weren't attended to (providing an anti-slip shower mat and cutting back the weeds on the path) we'd had enough so checked out early. We were not offered any compensation other than we weren't charged for the whole week. Our stay at Wayside was spoiled by indifference of the owners to any concerns raised by us as guests. It took several phone calls and messages left on the answering machine before contact could be made and ringing the doorbell was a waste of time! The breakfast was nice if you like self service but the place doesn't have that comfy feel of a b&b. The courtyard outside our room was pleasant but not suitable for disabled guests as the patio was up some steps. We were also overlooked by the utility room. The owners little dog was a lovely character and Pete seemed likeable, he was just never around. We have stayed in many hotels and b&b's most of which go the extra mile especially if their guests are disabled. Wayside sadly as its name suggests falls by the wayside.

  Value for money.

  Stayed two nights at this well priced B&B. The bed was comfortable and the welcome, whilst a bit scratchy, was friendly enough. The room itself needs some love to get it back to what it was perhaps quite a while ago. Breakfast is self service from the rather noisy fridge in the room- cheap ham and cheese which had disappeared the second day- not sure where the warm pain o chocolats from other reviews got to..... There are more expensive B&Bs- this one just about achieved value for money

  Cancelled booking

  We arrived on the 5-8-19 to stay a night with my family and it was a special 90th for my Dad to visit his favourite place Norwich to find after booking three bedrooms I rang the owner to ask if my other daughter could join us and asked how much extra for her and breakfast would be and I would pay the bill now. I was told that don't bother paying Booking .com as they keep the money for a mth and pay me when you arrive? We arrived to find after over 5 hrs she had booked the bedrooms to others people and all we got was an apology and an offer to book us in the pub over the road with a 90yr old a12 yr old and a ten mth old baby but was told it's was quiet and shut at 9.30 pm??? We had no where to go as we couldn't go traipsing round finding 3 double rooms in the main school hols after I booked this stay for over 2 months so we had to travel home with a fracious baby and and disappointed dad and daughters and another 4 hrs travel. On arrival wasn't that impressed with the outside appearance of Wayside and the owner was to busy looking after her own grandchildren to realise the situation but she came outside in the rain to apologise to me and my dad and daughter about what she had done ? Maybe she will not advertise on Booking .com again in view that she doesn't like them making her wait for her money and she needs to realise that she ruined our special few days and have some remorse and it's people like us that you need for your business

  Beautiful

  Lovely stay at wayside. Beautiful room and fantastic views. The owner was lovely and very hospitable. Continental breakfast was a great choice of cereals, pastries, yogurts, fruit, ham and cheese,toast which was very enjoyable we Recommend Wayside !!!

  Very comfortable!

  Wayside B&B has rooms of various sizes to accommodate singles, couples, or small groups (2-3 individuals). The owner was away on holiday, but the proprietor, Sonja (sp?), was very sweet and accommodating. Fresh French press coffee in the morning with fruit, pastries, the obligatory meet and cheese, yogurt, milk and juices. It was just what we needed! Highly recommended!
