  Comfortable nights stay

  Lovely nights stay on our way from Essex to Polperro. Polite and welcoming, friendly staff Room with en-suite warm and comfortable. Loved the history of this old coaching Inn All safety measures and safe distancing observed. Thank you!

  6 Star Stay

  Stayed two nights in "Tess" one of the amazing historic pubs charming period rooms. Only reason we are giving this place 5 stars is because we can't give it 6! History of the place is amazing, in gorgeous Dorset village. Landlord and his team are fantastic, friendly, welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Charming bar and restaurant steeped in history, full of character. Great selection of beers. Home cooked food is truly outstanding. We felt truly at home and were very sorry to leave. ( Also felt totally safe and secure Regards comprehensive measures in place re Covid) Sincere thanks to Monty and his lovely team. Very much look forward to return visit.

  A great pub and a great stay

  Just back today from a 3 night stay What a cracking grind this was it didnt disappoint Check in process simple and the whole place despite covid made us feel Safe with the measures that had in place We stayed in a family room, room 1 it was fantastic size enough to have 2 sofas in Yea and coffee in room along with bottled water and a fridge and the WiFi free throughout and works in the room The pub itself is lovely old beams and great beer on tap The food was lovely and loads of it The breakfast again was outstanding Loads of place In the beer garden if you have the Weather I would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again Thanks to you all at the Crown

  Really good

  Stayed for one night on business. Excellent service, very nice rooms top notch veggie breakfast. The rooms are in a converted annex to the pub so the noise isnt much of a problem. I will definitely stay here again.

  What a fantastic Pub!

  I stayed at The Crown for 3 nights on a business trip last weekend. Due to COVID the pub sadly wasnt open, but Monty, The Landlord was so welcoming and hospitable I cant fault the customer service from the team, he even called me on my long drive down to see if I wanted the kitchen to stay open late for food on my arrival, which I found really considerate. I would call him every evening before about my breakfast request for the following day, and he would deliver it to the room at the exact time requested. Making up a lovely packed lunch, when I started work before the kitchen opened. I was the only guest during my stay due COVID and I found the village truly charming. The rooms themselves are pleasant, clean and the beds very comfy. The bathroom has a nice shower and the decor in keeping with the links to Thomas Hardy. Theres even chickens in the garden, so youll know where the eggs came from! On Sunday I was recommended by a work colleague to have Monty's cooked breakfast... wow!! What a fantastic feast, the full English went down a treat and the sausage and bacon particularly delicious. Overall I travel a lot with work and its by far the nicest pub Ive stayed in. I will try and return with my family one day. Thank you Monty and team. Youre 5 star in my book!
