  Business trip to Addis Ababa - usual place of stay fully booked.

  See hotel downgraded from 4 to 3 star. Booked Delux room USD 145 (getting special price at USD110). Room VERY spacious and well appointed. Internet down in rooms and IT not available however relatively good in lobby. Window in bathroom open. VERY dusty all over the room. The acrylic bath dangerously cracked where you stand for shower over bath - repaired with tape. At the end of the shower the water leaking through inundated the floor. There were body hairs in the bath. I requested to move to another room - it was better - less dusty. With open window also lets in mosquitos. It was not the fault of the hotel that construction was ongoing in the building accross from my room 50 m away with a jackhammer until 23:00.

  Reasonable hotel in Central Addis convenient for short visit

  The room was clean and decent, but the bed was extremely hard. En suite bathroom was fine. Breakfast (inclusive in price of the room) was adequate but not very appealing. Room service reasonable but the menu is limited.

  Great food and very affordable

  I mostly eat outside when staying at the hotel but with Aphrodite I made an exception because their lunch and dinners were very moderate. They have big rooms and besides a very eratic internet (which is generally an Ethiopian problem) the hotel was perfect from Airport pickup to nice receptionist. Even though I did not make pickup arrangements, I was greeted by name at the airport and urshered to a waiting van to the hotel. One issue is the bath - the whole area around the shower gets flooded after use. The pressure from the shower is great and the shower curtains can do little.

  An old hotel without maintenance

  I do not recommend staying at this hotel at all. It is not a 4-star hotel. There are 4 and 5 star hotels very close (2-5 min walking) and also better located than this one, that for the same price both the rooms and the services are much better. It is an old hotel without any maintenance. The breakfast is quite bad and without variety and the restaurant has a very poor menu.

  Look elsewhere

  I was supposed to stay at the trendy Elilly Hotel (Addis) up the block, but due to their screwup, they sent me to Aphrodite Hotel. With the exception of the friendly staff, very little was enjoyable about this place. It seemed run down and dirty. All I did was sleep there so I can't comment on the food. But my key card never worked (and they never tried to fix it) and I have to get the bellboy to open the door each time. On day 1, little hot water and Day 2 no hot water (barely tolerable). Internet was non-existent in the room and lobby it was slow. The bed was rock hard but sheets clean and soft. Lamps had to be plugged in to turn on / off and noisy morning construction next door was annoying. In short, I would not go back.
