  Great hospitality

  We have stayed several times at Borgo di Alica. Roberto is a great host; a mine of local history and humour. Rooms are lovely, clean and pretty. Strong WiFi and an excellent pool. We also had the privilege of wine and olive oil tasting in their fascinating cantina. Robertos wine is delicious and Clara, his lovely wife, served up tasty nibbles while Maurizio(their son) topped up our glasses and chatted amiably. We are growing to really love Alica. Unspoilt and set in the Valdera.

  Good location but never stay there again or recommend it

  This appartment has amazing location and potentially can be amazing place. But unfortunately it is not. The appartment advertised as having swimming pool. Yes, they do have swimming pool but it is opened limited hours 9-19:30. We thought we will be able to use it after we come back after day out, but we couldnt because of time limitation Apartment was dirty. All furniture is old and not maintained properly. Shower door not closing. Towels were grey instead of white and also very old. We got 4 towels for 5 people and one of towels had brown spots, so we asked to replace dirty one and give us one more towel. Owner explained to us that we need to use one towel for 2 adults. In the end they sent people to clean the apartment and gave us more towels but it was done in the way as we required something unusual. This appartment cost more than 1000 euro for a week and they asked to share towels. Really? Before we booked appartment i checked if they have washing machine and they said yes, it is 10m distance from the appartment and shared by all guests. When we came and wanted to use it we found that we need to pay 5 euro for each run and also were allowed to use it in the morning. In the end Clara suggested to help and take out our washing from the machine when washing completed. We all were very disappointed, because we feel that we were ripped off. This apartment should maybe cost 400 but definetly not over 1000. And the fact that owners believe that they can do what they want because you already paid and have no option but stay there - is really bad. I am traveling every year and i never got so bad service and no value for money. We are serously thinking to request refund via agriturismo (that we used for booking) or directly from bank.

  Nice and charming

  We stayed for four nights in this beautiful house with a fantastic view. The place is quiet allthough there is a bell tower near by. The hosts were friendly and they made delicious dinner for us twice. The wines from their own wineyard were also very good. We recommend this place!

  Great Location Great Wine

  I was blessed being able to stay with my family over 6 days in this little place in Tuscan heaven. Roberto and Clara, who were clearly very passionate about their property, looked after us so well. This is exactly what I wanted Tuscany to be. Location perfect for touring around and evenings spent drinking Robertos sensational red wine. We toured in the morning and then swam in the pool in the afternoon and drank wine in the evening. So blessed to have had this opportunity.

  Roberto and Clara are great hosts. Welcoming and full of fascinating information about the local area and Tuscany in general. They have a beautiful set of apartments which are commodious, pretty, superb views, clean and have good WiFi and all the conveniences. The pool which is a good size is kept scrupulously clean each day. Alica is quiet and unspoilt and near to so much of interest in Valdera. Vineyards and olive groves all around. The enchanting hooting Tawney Owls let you know they are busy in the surrounding woods at night! We will definitely be back as soon as we possibly can!
