  Hotel tranquilo en una zona maravillosa

  Hotel situado en la costa norte de la isla, a mi parecer mas bonita y espectacular que la costa sur, nos trataron de manera muy personal y agradable. Sin duda alguna cuando regrese a Madeira volveré a este hotel.

  Large apartment and nice swimming pool

  We had a good stay in the Casa da capelinha where the children enjoyed a lot the swimming pool. We stayed in the large apartment on the ground floor (two studios are merged into one big flat with three rooms) and could use the whole terrace in front. It was quiet and clean. The staff was nice. We played snooker in the common room at night. No breakfast but the restaurant serves a very nice food (we were surprised). We recommend this hotel. It is good value for your money.

  Dinner only....sadly

  Didn't stay at this hotel but on a sight seeing trip, including Ponta Delgada, we decided to stop for our evening meal. Nice seating area outside, shown to us by the effusive female owner (we didn't catch her name...sorry). We all ('she who must be obeyed, myself and the two sprogs) ordered starters and mains. Madeiran garlic bread all round, with and without cheese to mop up the buttery goodness from the grilled Lapas (Limpets to you & I). I then had Polvo (octopus) s.w.m.b.o. had fillet of Espada Preta (black scabbard fish) and the spogs had burgers. All extremely yummy. Well worth a return visit

  Paradice in Madeira

  This fantastic place you should visit at least once in a life time fantastic staff and kitchen in the little restaurant my very Best recomendation use the place to start hiking or walking one the beautiful levadaes and enjoy natur flowers and calmnes. My very Best recommendation Helge Denmark

  No tourists to be seen.

  Good hotel. Lovely location with the ocean to the front and thousand foot hills behind. Lots of plants and greenery. With the plants comes a few insects, spiders, birds and lizards everywhere. OMG LIZARDS ARE EVERYWHERE! Quite a few hills to navigate but the area is fairly flat by Madeira standards. At the front there is a huge open swimming pool. The hotel has a small pool as well. The beach is volcanic and not worth thinking about . A church down at the front is really worth a visit to look at the inside paintwork. There are about 6 bars and about thre same amount of shops. There is one big hotel at the waterfront but we never saw anybody from the hotel in the week we were there. We sat at the petrol station with the old men (who played dominoes) with our beers bought from the station watching the cars go by - at least one car every 5 minutes - somethimes the same car. The fastest thing in this town was when I offered to buy all the old men a beer. This place brought memories of the film "Local Hero" with Burt Lancaster. Food at the Hotel was first class. Prices at the bars were local prices ie 1 euro a drink. The local Mateus Rose wine was about 3 - 4 euros a bottle and 10 at the hotel. We saw the same "stray" dog everywhere and on questioning the locals - the dog was shared by everybody. Same went with the cats. Downside - not as hot and dry as the south of the island otherwise almost perfect. We go back next year.
