    Do not trust express checkout: pay directly at Reception. They took the liberty of adding extras which were not consumed. Wait, if you have too, but settle the bill directly with someone, rather than getting extortionate charges later. If you do choose express checkout make sure you read the back of the slip, because they will add gratuities unless you tell them not to. My breakfast arrived at my Room with one item missing, wrong kind of milk and coffee being cold...they do not have room service dept so they rely on restaurant; being busy, i am certain my tray was left sit, waiting for a free waiter to bring the tray to my room...hence the cold coffee .

    Utterly Fabulous!!!

    Utterly fabulous!!! & high remarks for their duty of care to provide a Covid-19 secure place from the moment you step in. I honestly can say, our visit started and finished off with just all pleasant experiences. Yes, the whole place is grand and very beautiful but in all our experiences trying new places, its always the staff that can either make or break your visit. To start, Alex in the reception was very welcoming and attentive. Our experience in the restaurant was truly impeccable. We were welcomed with all smile by Raili and Balazs. Bela, with all his wit and natural charm is indeed a breath of fresh air. Chris and Eszter were very attentive too. The dish portion is more than sufficient and all the more its just so delicious and well executed. My husband loved his soufflé so much. The fish and scallops cooked to perfection. Its also good to know that they do offer a light option in case youre in a light diet. I was also surprised by a lovely birthday plate, just made my birthday even more special! Makes you think, isnt it really all these special touches and seeing staff that are happy and ever so attentive that makes each visit really unforgettable! I guess, this review wont even be complete without giving due credit to their Operations Manager, Raili. Thank you so much for looking after us. We can actually see shes everywhere. Shes so hands on and we applaud her for keeping such a unified and energetic team. Their service just flowed so effortless as theyre very naturally welcoming and attentive. Even the housekeeping staff are so polite as you pass by. Special mention to Vasilis as well, the restaurant manager, my husband is very thankful for being so attentive. We honestly couldnt fault our stay. Even in these challenging times we all are facing, oh my! Im so glad we came to Champneys. Will definitely be back again! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much!

    Underwhelming and average C-19 rule enforcement.

    Checkin was ok due not beign told the actual check out time (11 am FYI) which was not the 4 pm departure time as highlighted by email correspondence (Not even the express checkout letter posted under the door the following morning mentioned a time). With the high nightly price tag for a standard room i was expecting great things. How wrong was i. Breakfast menu was very disappointing as there is no cooked option without having to pay a supplement for it (not even a boiled egg!), even though on website it says "healthy meals are included". Surely a cooked egg is healthy? Quality of food was good but most of the meals you sensed had been sitting under a heater before being sent out. I must say the service in the restaurant was great so was happy to leave the gratuity charge on our final bill. Another issue was that on many occasions i noticed people not following C19 rules or hotel personnel not enforcing them. For example customers not wearing masks in public areas / going to dinner with no mask but not being told to wear one when arriving to restaurant / different households having dinner together!), no wonder infection rate has increased but the hotel should have clamped down on this. The whole experience was very flat (would have been rated "poor" if not for restaurant service) and when i think about other hotels in the Chilterns/Marlow area i have stayed with which have same level facilities but with a higher standard of menu and value , i do wonder why people come here...

    Still not been refunded, even after emailing several times!

    I booked for my mum and self to stay over Christmas. Owing to increasing coronavirus cases, Champney's cancelled all stays. I agree with this - I am a midwife working frontline in the NHS! However I have now emailed three times over the last 4 weeks, asking if I could please be refunded. Each time I have been told I need to expect to wait up to 45 days. This seems insane, considering they took my money within minutes when the booking was made! I have repeatedly asked that this money be refunded into my account, or an expectant date be given. They have given me neither. I am now losing faith that I will even receive this refund. It seems so unfair to take customers money and then not to refund them. It has put me off booking with Champneys again in the future!
