  Christmas Party

  Went to this local hotel for a Christmas gathering of my knitting group - we weren't disappointed! What a fabulous meal, well served and plenty for everyone. The menu was good and priced sensibly. They catered for my coeliac disease in a way that made me feel secure, and that they knew what they were doing, which is always very reassuring.

  Disappointed

  I was disappointed with Room 8. This is facing the main road and is one of the rooms with a sloping roof. The curtains slope with the roof and so do not stop light coming in at 5am....blinds are a must! The double glazing doesnt stop the road noise...so again expect to be woken at 5am. The whole place is tired...carpets, decor and furnishings, so not good value. The fire doors do not connect with each other on the stairs...there is a big gap...cannot understand this passing fire regulations. The redeeming feature was the lovely breakfast.

  FANTASTICAL

  We stayed in Crossway Hotel for 2 nights (Room 5). On arrival we were greeted with a friendly welcome from one of the owners and shown to our room. The room was spotlessly clean and the owners had added "special touches" e.g. sweets in a little dish, tea/coffee making facilities, bath robes, toiletries, chocolate biscuits etc. Our breakfast was delicious and cooked to perfection, and although busy, the owners, Pauline and Paul, took the time to speak with us (lovely couple). The Crossways Hotel is spotlessly clean, the beds are sooo comfortable, the food is amazing, the owners are professional,efficient and welcoming. I would recommend Crossways 100% to all. Thank you, Pauline and Paul for a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be back

  Home away from home

  I've stayed here a fair few times and can honestly say it's been a pleasure. The hotel is an old building and has lots of character. I love the finishing touches in the rooms to make it feel like home away from home. Paul and Pauline have always been great hosts and nothing is ever too much trouble. Will be returning very soon for another weekend stay!

  Disastrous customer service.

  Today I was informed that a concert we were attending had been cancelled. Once home from work I contacted the Crossways to cancel my room. I was informed to contact Expedia to do this. So onto my emails... I had while 23:00 this evening to cancel at no cost. So promptly emailed to cancel my reservation. Whilst I was doing this I received an email telling me my payment had been made to The Crossways. I emailed The Crossways to ask why this had happened. I then rang my bank to cancel the payment. Then I rang The Crossways to ascertain the reason. The gentleman who I spoke to was very rude to me. He said he would get back to me in the next few days... I asked who had taken the payment and he didn't seem to know. I explained that I had only phoned less than half an hour before to cancel and was told that the hotel was not responsible as my booking was through Expedia. To say that I am perplexed is an understatement! I fully understand that the hotel is losing trade due to the cancellation but to blatantly mislead me is very wrong. Unfortunately I will not be spending any of my money with this hotel. A very disgruntled person.
