We were duped... and very disappointed.

My wife is Korean and we came here from Canada to visit her family. Her family planned a weekend getaway for all of us to this resort. The website looked good, but when we got here we found out there was nothing to do. Their website promotes their outdoor pool, the indoor pool, the wellness centre, the golf course, and the sky lounge. Absolutely not even one amenity that was on their website was open. The entire family was very disappointed. They explained that during "winter" hours they don't open their spa, which is the indoor swimming pool facilities and wellness centre. But neither do they open their outdoor pool or golf course. Plus we are here in early April. So no pool, no gym, no hot tub, no golf course, there is really nothing to do, which is very strange because a resort usually has several things to do. Several of my family members shared their thoughts with the staff but no one seems to have anything to say except that they don't have these facilities open during winter hours. So does that mean that for 6 months any customers coming here have nothing available to them, even though they still need to pay $200+ per night? As an International Marketer for education I stay in various hotels and countries all over the world, and I've never been as disappointed in my accommodations as I am in this resort. It reeks of greed and no care about providing services because they know that in the summer it will be packed regardless. My wife's family doesn't have a lot of money and I am just very disappointed. We all feel duped.

An alternative to the crowded, increasing lower quality hotels near the beach

A group (4) of us traveled to Boryeong for work and were advised to changed the usual accommodation we stay at since the quality was getting lower and lower. Westopia was suggested as the alternative. For business travelers, it is an average choice with few of the amenities one would look for. No bottled water, no toiletries, no hair dryer, a shower head hanging on the wall as opposed to a bath/shower combination. However, the hotel is on the newer side, clean, has reliable wi-fi and is within walking distance to an excellent traditional Korean restaurant. I would assume that for longer stays, guests may appreciate the kitchen in the room and the extra mats/bedding to accommodate families. I know I was grateful for those mats as a strategy to compensate for the extra hard / box like mattress on the bed. We only stayed for breakfast and were offered a choice of continental, American or Korean breakfast. The service was slow. The food okay. Looks like the golf resort was open - the outdoor pool was still empty of water when we were there.
