  A disappointment...not value for money

  Overall a very disappointing experience. After experiencing a warm welcome we were expecting good things as we checked into our bedroom and it all went downhill from therethe room was dated and poorly maintained. Curtains half hanging off the wall that would not close meaning a bright outdoor light shone into the room, patches of damp by the bed, mould in the shower, and a carpet that looked new in 1960, although clean was threadbare, The floors were so thin you could hear people below speaking - not helped by having kitchens below so noisy most of the night. Advertised free wifi but it was so slow it was useless. Very expensive for what it is. Would have expected shampoo and toiletries having paid 165 for the night but nothing but a very dated bathroom. Reading other reviews I had to check to see if I was in the same hotel, other than the nice location I was surprised it rated as a 4 star hotel.

  Very bad food

  The location of the restaurant was beautiful but the food was very bad from the small bits and bites offered to the salmon to the meat to even the small mignardises offered. The person with us that recommended this restaurant told us that she havent been since two years and it was delicious so what happened since then? Very very disappointing.

  Our Favourite Restaurant in THE WORLD! Great Food, great service and lovely location

  We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and it has never dissappointed us. We came with friends from the UK and all had the tasting 'Tapas' menu 65 euros. It seems expensive but great value when you see what you get - 4 courses, 3 selections of each course, including homemade bread and sweets, all delicious but not for the feint hearted. We struggled to eat the desserts as we were so full but managed the hand made sweets to finish. The Chef takes you on a gastronomic journey, often putting together little known ingredients and tastes, it was a delight from start to finish accompanied by beautiful wine. Our waitress Mila was equally delightful and entertaining and we can't sing her praises enough. We sat on the beautiful terrace all evening overlooking the Lake and had the most wonderful experience. Thank you Pascale & Ivan. We WILL be back!!

  Great location and ambience

  Had 4 stays at this hotel and can recommend highly. The standard of accommodation is high and the welcome friendly. The grounds are a key feature with walks round the lake, flower garden and woods. Dinner and drinks, in good weather, can be taken on a terrace overlooking the lake (and facing west so watching the sun set over the fantastic view is a highlight). The staff are very helpful and the service good. Breakfasts are excellent with freshly squeezed juices, breads, croissants, cheeses and meats, etc. Dinner also rates highly but I would mark down a little due to lack of choice - there are two menus for dinner but no further options once you've selected your menu. There are 3 negative points that could easily be addressed. The wonderful terrace has no no-smoking area so a lovely meal can be ruined if a party arrives at a nearby table then chain smokes for the entire evening - it happened to us twice. The kitchen fan is very noisy and can be heard in the rooms above the kitchen and on the terrace near to the fan. The wi-fi is very difficult to log-on to if you have a Mac. There is a splash screen where you have to click a "connect" box. But this doesn't always appear and when it does clicking connect does not work. Connecting to Wi-Fi has been a problem on all our stays, the staff are helpful even to the point of sharing a local hotspot on their phone but the connectivity issues could be improved. So a few small negatives but the positives easily outweigh them.

  Truly magical!

  If I was going to design my perfect French country hotel, this would be it. If youre looking for a romantic break, great food, peace and quiet and beautiful views, this is where you need to be. The rooms are beautifully decorated, you will never tire of the view of the lake and warmth of the welcome. The only sounds you hear are the fish rising and the birds singing. The walk around the lake is a great way to work up an appetite for dinner. I will never forget my time here, particularly my birthday treat (thank you for the cake, Ivan!). I hope to return soon.
