    Nice Onsen Hotel

We stayed in Entaijiso on 5th Nov and found this onsen hotel was nice. The hotel was not far from the train station. They could provide shuttle service upon phone call. The staff were efficient and some could converse in English. Rooms were spacious and clean and our room was facing the stream. They have welcome drinks in the lobby upon arrival. The onsens were nice with rotation system for female and male. Dinner and breakfast buffet were delicious with abundant choices. Really value for money and highly recommended.

    Great Ryokan @ Unazuki Onsen

We heard much about Kurobe Gorge (), Japan's deepest and one of the most scenic gorges. So with excitement, we planned our trip to Unazuki Onsen to enjoy the beautiful & scenic journey on the Torroko Train . We chose to stay 2 nights @ Entaijiso Ryokan based on its proximity (7 mins walk from Unazuki Onsen Station) and the good reviews. It is quite pricey at JPY 38880 per person on half board basis for 2 nights, but the spacious rooms, excellent Kaiseki dinners, and the quality breakfast spread made it all worthwhile. I love a good cup of coffee for breakfast and I must add that the coffee was really good. We also enjoyed using the 2 Onsens, one in the Basement and one on Level 1. Unazuki Onsen Town is a small town and its main attraction is its starting point of the Kurobe Gorge Railway, and believe Spring and Autumn are the best time to visit.

High quality services with scenic views, excellent onsens and reputations of visits by many important dignitaries

Unazuki Onsen is a well-known hot spring resort that had attracted dignitaries visits in the past. Its in the mountain regions of Toyama Prefecture, with easy connections by Shinkansen lines or local trains to the major cities such as Kurobe, Toyama and several popular seaside towns by the Japan Sea. After we completed our Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route journey at Tateyama we extended our trip to Kurobe Gorge and Unazuki Onsen where Kurobe Gorge Railways famous Torokko train journey into the Kurobe Gorge was on our exploration lists. So, if you plan to extend your journey from Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Routes to Kurobe Gorge/Unazuki Onsen you will need to take Toyama Chihou Railways Main Line (Blue Line) train from Toyama without transfer or if from Tateyama you then take Toyama Chihou Railways Tateyama ( Green ) Line, go direction of Dentetsu- Toyama, get off at Terada and then make a transfer connection on the Toyama Chihous Main Line (Blue Line), go direction of Unazuki Onsen; travel time is approx. 1 hr. 46 min.from Tateyama. We stayed overnight in Tateyama, then spent morning visit to Shomyo Falls. Staff at Tateyama Station can speak English and will help you with ticket purchases and where to make connections and transfers. The train ride through scenic countryside and views of snow-capped Japans Northern Alps are breathtaking. We were traveling from Tokyo through Fuji Five Lakes, Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Routes and were at the end of our 2 weeks-5 days JR-Niigata/Nagano flex pass when we arrived at Unazuki Onsen. We chose to stay at Unazuki Onsens Entaijiso for 2 nights. It was a short stay, but we truly love this peaceful onsen resort which has attracted many Japanese and world known dignitaries. The only draw back is the property is not entirely smoking free. Staff will use odor neutralizer to prepare the room if quests requested non-smoking rooms. The hotel situated along the river and mountain side with scenic views from the guest rooms and other public area of the hotel; such as several dining halls, breakfast room by the main lobby. Indoor and outdoor Onsens have the best quality of mineral contents. Walking pass the Dignitaries Hall of Fame at the main level there are enclosed glass cases with pictures of worlds famous dignitaries including copies of President Carter and First Lady In 1984, Emperor of Japan Hirohito in 1969, Prime Ministers- Nobusuke Kishi, Eisaku Sato, Shigeru Yoshida, Hayato Ikeda, Masayoshi Ohira, Nobel laureate in literature and novelist- Yasunari Kawabata and copies of newspapers past articles worthy of mention. The dignitarys lists indeed showcase the important history and impressive reputations with Entaijisos over 100 years of operations Hotel provides free pick-up and drop off at Hokuriku Shinkansen lines Kurobe Unazukionsen Shinkansen JR Station, but you must make pre-request and agree to the available scheduled time. We arrived earlier than the check-in time by way of Toyama Chihou Rails Tateyama Line; so, we reached hotel by foot. We left the luggage to the attending staff and then headed out to explore this small charming onsen resort. we took a walk to the town center, saw a free hot spring foot bath pavilion outside of the train tracks between Unazukionsen Station and Kurobe Gorge Railway Station; located on the main shopping strip. We soaked our tired feet and enjoyed the foot bath experience, only two of us there at that time. Upon returning and checked-in, our luggage had been placed in our room and tea/snacks were ready for use to enjoy. Since hotel provides free shuttles to and from towns main station and the town center as well as pick up/drop off guests at JR Shinkansen Kurobe Unazukionsen Station, it makes coming to here less hassles. Our dinner was served by the dining staff at the table assigned to us. We had well balanced 10 courses meal and dined at different dining room each night. Breakfast is served at the breakfast room by the main lobby with buffet style and many high-quality selections in western and Japanese preparations. It was one of the memorable trips coming to Unazuki Onsen; not only we had opportunities to enjoy the pure hot spring in Entaijiso Hotel, to explore natures beauty in and around Kurobe Gorge, but also, we felt a sense of connection knowing President Carter and his wife had found their ways to this place too.

    Excellent hospitality and mesmerising views.

Entaijiso exceed my expectations. Right from the check in till check out, the staff gave us amazing hospitality. They made a vegetarian dinner for us (on prior request )which was amazing with about 50 items to eat. The breakfast buffett had a doable selection of vegetarian too. The onsens were superv. The views from the room were as per the description. The lady who checked us in was such a wonderful female. She was the only one who spoke english. She explained us all the things to use, helped us wearing yukatas, went with me all the way to show the onsen as I was confused with the floors. She was very patient with us. Other female ( although not fluent in english) was very helpful for us to transfer our bags to shinano omachi as we proceeded for alpine route. . Indeed it exceeded my expectation in all the ways. All my requirements were fulfiled. 1. Room with great views of the gorge in 5th floor 2. Traditional japanese style rooms with futon beds, yukatas, a coffee table to enjoy the view. Huge rooms. 3. Bathroom had separate toilet, separate basin and separate tub. Shower was in the tub. We had a bath at the onsen which had a huge selection of shampoos and all other amenities. U get everything u need. 4. The onsens were great. On one floor it had indoor onsen both male n female separated opposite to each other. The outdoor one has 2 floors which keeps on rotating b/w male n female. The top one is for females in the morning and men at night. The bottom floor is for females at night and men in the morning. 5. They have a car pick up n drop service till shin kurobe unazuki station which is about half an hour from unazuki station which is for local trains. You need to inform them prior. 6. The vegetarian kaiseki was also superv. Beyond my imagination. They had aubergine, rice, bamboo shoot, cold soba, desserts, rice balls, artichokes, carrot, pickles, mushroom, tofu, raddish, soy sauce, sweets, dessert. They were served in small bowls. U can add them to your hot pot or mix it with rice. Or eat it like one by one dish. We took one hour to complete the kaiseki meal so u can imagine the varieties served. We had a wonderful stay at Entaijiso.
