  Excellent place for staying when visit this region & splendid hotel itself

  We choose this hotel to be close to this unique Salzkammergut area, Dachstein/Hallstatt. It is located in the dead end calm walley, ending with the Gosauersee, amazing place, underneath the Dachstein hill. Maybe 10 minutes by car from Halstatt, 20 min to Obertraun, Dachstein-Krippenstein, 30 minutes from Bad Ischl and all famous lakes around. A lot of hotels in this area, but this family managed hotel is exceptional due to warm, helpful and flexible approach to guests, splendid kitchen and restaurant rooms.   Muy agradable estancia en familia

  Sin duda uno de los hoteles mas tradicionales en los que nos hemos alojado. Si bien nos asustamos un poco cuando vimos que estaba en plena carretera.... una vez estas dentro es un remanso de paz y un paraiso para los peques donde son loa protagonistas. Cuentan con un jardin con columpios, tirolina, cama elastica y piscina climatizada. El personal encantador y nos resulto muy buena base para visitar la region de salzkammergut

  A real personal touch

  We were expecting to arrive late-afternoon, but earlier storms had destroyed the bridge we needed to take. I called ahead as I was concerned that the 90-min reroute would mean we'd miss dinner. Frau Wallner, the owner, was brilliant - she assured me that something would be available and that they were aware of our dietary requirements (unprompted). When we arrived, we were shown into the restaurant and told we could check in once we'd eaten. There were a couple of minor problems with our room, but these were dealt with immediately. Reasons to stay here - great location, lots of free parking, really friendly staff with lots of local knowledge and good wholesome food with veggie / vegan options available, plus a good local wine list. Nice little spa and outdoor pool. Lots of positives, but what really springs to mind is the friendly service.

  Complete Comfort and Excellence in Upper Austrian Tirol

  A family hotel 4 star hotel that has been run by the Family Wallner since 1958 it ticks all the boxes with no complaints at all and exceeds every expectation. A great summer high Austria Tirol hotel located with easy access to Hallstatt and also to the GosauSee (do not miss this for fantastic views of the Dachstein glacier), and Dachstein chairlift and five fingers viewpoint - all breathtaking. Fabulous walking all around and only 500 metres or so from the ski lift in winter, so its also a great all year round hotel. We stayed in a comfort double room on the first floor. The level of finish of the bedrooms and en suite is masterclass quality, no shabby workmanship here and quality fitments. (See photo.) Loads of storage and very cosy beds. Funky chandelier in bedroom too. (Also a photo). The facilities for children are exceptional but not invasive, (in the basement), the heated outdoor pool and hot tub (all year) attached to the sauna / spa very pleasant and relaxing. Dinner and breakfast exceptional, large variety of everything regularly replenished, and free soft drinks and water throughout the day. Great bar and wine list too, but you have to pay for that... Free caffe and kuchen every afternoon at 3.30 though, great tradition. Staff exceptionally friendly, efficient and helpful. Loads of free parking and fast free wi fi. Best hotel in a long time weve stayed at in over 300 reviews, and one that beats four star competition into a three star rating......hands down...just be advised this is a medium sized hotel with a pool that is not olympic size - a lot smaller - but it was just perfect for us.... Did we like it? Am I effusive? I only wish we had booked for more than two nights on our way down to Croatia. This hotel is going to take some beating....at least for us anyway. Give it a try.....

  The perfect countryside retreat, in summer AND winter

  Hotel Sommerhof is a pleasure to visit and stay at. The hotel itself is very stylish, comfortable and well equipped. The outdoor pool, jacuzzi AND saunas are exactly what you need after a day spent either skiing in winter or hiking/cycling in summer. It is regularly being updated and renovated, and improves every time i visit. The Wallner family are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them, and they will ensure your stay goes smoothly and is as enjoyable as possible. The food is also exceptional, with a great range of choices available both at breakfast and for the evening meal. Also check out the wine cabinets built into the restaurant, the choice is amazing, and the owner Manny will be very happy to share his vast knowledge with you to find just the right bottle.
